Princess Anne's Wedding: HRH The Duchess of Gloucester and HRH Princess Richard of Gloucester

The Gloucester ladies were out in force at Anne's big day: that's Princess Alice smack dab in the middle here, looking fetching if a bit Queen Mary in her lavender turban.  I'm having a bit more trouble deciding what it is that Birgitte has on her head (she's directly above the Queen).  A Christmas wreath of some sort?

    I love a good turban. They're due a renaissance.
Birgitte's getting ready for Christmas, clearly.

    Birgitte was quite beautiful.

Alice needed to funk up her look a bit really didn't she - it's drab this number. Not sure what Birgitte has on, but she is very pretty as a young woman isn't she.

  4. Eliza says on :

I sort of like the wreath. It's seasonal, but cute.

  5. Arthur says on :

Stick a few candles in Birgitte's hat and you have an Advent wreath.

I love Princess Alice's number, too. The colour is great.

I quite like Alice's turban - maybe she just found a look in the thirties and decided to run with it.

And Birgitte was so lovely. She had only been married a year herself - she'd still be Princess Richard here.

Ah, you're right, Maggie -- my math was a little off. The previous Duke died in 1974, not 1973 -- Birgitte is still Princess Richard here, and her mother-in-law is still the Duchess. Changed it! :)
