Princess Anne's Wedding: HRH The Princess Anne

Ah, Princess Anne's tiara/veil combination -- the tiara, of course, is Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara, the same one worn by Queen Elizabeth when she married Prince Philip in 1947. It's a good sparkler, but it sort of gets lost in all of Anne's 1970s/1170s hair, doesn't it? I never could quite figure out whether this wedding wanted to be totally groovy or totally medieval...

Anne was a stunning bride, even if the wedding was a bit confused. This tiara is still my frontrunner for Kate's tiara. Either this or the Strathmore Rose.
I don't know that it was quite the right choice of tiara for Anne's dress/hair combo - it has a very modern look to it. Maybe a floral piece would have worked better? But I suppose tiaras weren't around in Tudor times, which was when her dress was based on. He hair did give wonderful height to the veil though - this shot shows how fine it was.
I do love this dress, even more so as I get older. If you watch clips of the day it moved beautifully.
I'm flummoxed as to how anyone could find fault. Anne looked A-maze-ing. And you don't say that very often!
The dress was very her, not frilly or flouncy, but still lovely and grand. The tiara was great in her hair - it sat in it so well.
This was one of the best royal wedding dresses - not up there with Princess Margo, but close behind. And all because Anne looked herself.
A beautiful tiara, and I love the way it was nestled in her hair. The dress was just right for her, special enough for the day, but still practical and simple, and it did move beautifully. Very much the ice-queen.
I reckon this could be a fore-runner for Zara - the romance of the idea is too much to resist what with the list of roayl heads it has adorned. It would be interesting to see how she styles her hair to support it.
This has always been one of my favorite dresses. It's elegant, looks good in motion and hasn't dated. It's not in style, it's not out of style. It's just beautiful.
