Queen Sonja brought the big guns to her baby's wedding: Empress Joséphine’s Emerald Tiara and the rest of the matching emerald parure. I've got to say, though, I think the strange green shade of the dress looks a little odd with the emeralds. What do the rest of you think?

That is a lot of green. I think you're right Ella, it does diminish the effect of the emeralds.
I think the lighting in this photo washed out the color some, but even as green is my favorite color, this still seems a bit much.
I disagree. I think it's wonderful, and certainly very eye-catching. I actually think the light green brings out the darker green of the emeralds very well.
I thought Sonja looked great - I think the light is just bad in this shot. But whatever you think of that rigout, those emeralds are major!
Gosh, I didn't know the Crown Prince got married on St. Pat's day.
This is WAY too much green and that is one honker of a tiara.
I also think the light was just bad. I love emeralds (a bit too much). She looks wonderful. Every inch the Queen.
I think it's stunning, exquisite. Here's a (then) 64 year old lady who's not afraid to make a statement. It's also an endorsement of this wedding, i.e., she pulled out all the stops and she looks fabulous! Bravo, Sonya!
PS Check her out on Wikipedia, and she how she married Prince Harald.
