Hey, who knew the pterodactyl hat had a purple cousin? Turns out Paola has been sporting this style for quite a while now. I still admire the attempt at originality, but I have to admit, these hats aren't my favorites.

Ooh so it did - and I only just commented on Margrethe's 40's titfer. I like this, and all the ruffles too. I think she looks rather fab. And slim pickings, most of the others at this wedding were a bit dull.
I still these hats look like they're on backwards. Still the colour's lovely.
Question: why "Queen of the Belgians" as opposed to Queen of Belgium?
Ooh very pretty colour! Normally I would mind this hat, but I think it's okay because of the colour! (goodness, I really judge by colour!)
She is Queen of "the" Belgians as that is her offical title, as is the King's, reigning over the people rather than a land or territory. Unfortunately, the country is in such political and geographic disunity that it may come apart, therefore putting the royal family in a tenuous position. Albert is trying to keep it together.
Again, this hat suggests the prow of a boat. I think it is a way of honoring this very popular Dutch family!
