The Prince of Orange's Wedding: HRH Princess Máxima

Máxima's wedding tiara is one that I think you either love or hate.  For me, the stars are a bit too flash -- but they also somehow do fit with her personality.

The tiara is, like many that Máx wears, a composite of several Dutch pieces.  The stars are from the set of Queen Emma's diamond star brooches, which she received as a wedding gift in 1879.  The base of the tiara is the Pearl Button Tiara, with its five pearl buttons swapped out for the stars.  The Pearl Button Tiara has wedding experience -- it was worn in its complete form by Princess Margriet on her wedding day in 1967.  I suppose we'll call the composite Máxima's Diamond Star Wedding Tiara?

I really love Maxie's stars - they are so flash and well, bling, that I cannot help it. I think they are fab.

I wasn't such a lover of the dress though. It was just too like so many other royal wedding dresses for me and really stiff and formal. Contrast to Mette Marit's, and I feel like Max was trying to look the part instead of just being herself. I do love the veil though, it is really full and lush.

All that said, she looked very beautiful on the day, and I do like her, she looks like she'd be a good one to have a pint with!

I don't like this at all. Stars I have never liked in tiaras. They're too spikey!! Max's dress was boring, but it was the train and the stunning veil that made her look better.

Not a big fan of the stars, but the big veil keeps them this side of Vegas. Her dress was bit safe. Not much to really say about it otherwise.

Dressed by Valentino - it was a stunning wedding dress for February. Although mostly plain there were delicate insets of lace in the skirt. The heavy lace veil made up for the simplicity of the gown. I like the tiara on Maxima and think it was great that she was able to creat something different from historical pieces for her wedding day. However the tiara does somewhat get lost amongst the veil and i remember ger wearing the tiara few months later in Norway at Martha's wedding when she wore a stunning orange dress and looked amazing. Overall i think on of the best winter weddings
