The Crown Prince of Denmark's Wedding: HM The Queen of Spain

Here's another queen who needs a serious tiara to go with her serious hair: Queen Sofia of Spain.  And I have to say, I am really falling in love with this tiara -- it's the Cartier Diamond and Pearl Tiara, which was first owned by Queen Ena of Spain.  The tiara apparently once had emeralds in place of the large pearls, but I really like the way this one sort of glows with the pearl setting.

Ena left the tiara to one of her daughters, and the piece didn't return back to the hands of the Spanish monarchy until Juan Carlos bought it for Sofia in the late 1990s.  I just hope we see more of it soon!

Absolutely fantastic - much better than a pair of lacy knickers.

    perfect! love the tiara.

the grey of her gown, with lots of lace trim, looks lovely and dignified.

It's a wonderful tiara, really dramatic, and the size tiaras should be - BIG! Not loving the particular shade of sludge she opted for though.

Absolutely stunning, in the true sense of the word.

One of the most beautiful tiaras I've ever seen.

Who is the lady on Her Majesty's left?

The lady on Queen Sofia's left is Queen Paola of the Belgians (née Paola Rufo di Calabria).
