Mary certainly was a beautiful bride, wasn't she? I know I dog on her wedding tiara quite a bit, but paired with the intricate lace veil she wore, it's quite lovely. It's only when it's flying solo with only her hair to back it up that it looks so sparse!
(Though I think I've finally identified the issue with Mary's wedding look that keeps it from being one of my absolute favorites: the center hair part. So severe!)

It took me a while to like Mary's look for her wedding, but now I really love it. The tiara looks fab against the veil, and I love how the veil doesn't hide her face but rather frames it. I know what you mean about the centre parting Ella, but I wonder whether no parting (ie combed straight back) would have made the whole ensemble look like it was sliding off the back of her head)
I do love her dress - it fits her perfectly and really suits her bold, plush looks. She really looks every inch the princess.
She certainly looked spectacular. Any problems with the tiara are rather not evident when pared with the veil.
"paired" even
you're right, the tiara doesnt look bad paired with the lace veil - mostly because you can't really see it. i also think it's set too far back on her head.
i have to say i don't like this whole outfit: the hair was too severly parted and pulled back, the veil was tucked around a giant hair piece leaving it about a foot off her face, the dress was unflattering and odd - too plain and severe [the top (which looked like she was wearing a back-straightening board) and some of the skirt] alternated with too fussy (the pulled-up sections with lace underneath).
and this from one of my favorite princesses, whose style i usually love!
i do love the earrings! - lest you think i'm being mean to mary.
From the neck down, I was also a little disappointed. And I'm normally very rude about this tiara, but it doesn't look too bad when put against a veil. The earrings are fabulous.
I still love her, though. I'm currently plotting my plan to travel to Denmark to go and steal her away for myself.
Okay - here goes. I LOVE this outfit. I thought her wedding dress was really unusual (said in a Kath and Kim accent in honour of Mary's roots) and it worked. I felt it had Mary's personality in it, unlike some other royal wedding dresses, where I feel they go for what they think a princess SHOULD look like.
I do feel however, that the headgear was a little flawed. The centre parting doesn't work. And the heavy lace veil with the tiara was a bad combo - they've had to fold it back at the front, which does mean the tiara disappers, and because the fabric is quite stiff, it hangs in rather odd folds. It always made me think of a milkmaid. It would have been better had the veil come out of her bun - so to speak!
But I forgive - because I HEART Mary, and adored the dress. The other thing was her bouquet, which was really different (also done in a K&K voice) and complemented the frock perfectly.
I need to go and lie down now!
I have to admit that Mary's look really didn't do it for me. I beleve it's one of those love it or hate it outfits.
I'm not a fan of those champagne coloured dresses, and I'm certainly not a fan of those off the shoulder dresses. I didn't like the arches of fabric on the bottom of tge dress. (Don't ask why, I have no clue!
)
Her hair was bad, with it parted down the middle. I like the veil, but I hate how her hair is such an obvious lump. It's very matronly. (Are you supposed to be on your wedding? Probably!) this next one's probably a bit mean, but in all the photos her hair looks very greasy.
I'm sorry Mary, you're my favourite Crown Princess. I just didn't like this outfit! But you're still amazing.
