Nobel Prize King's Dinner: HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden

One more Tiara Alert from this year's Nobel festivities -- it's Crown Princess Victoria wearing the Napoleonic Cut-Steel Tiara that her Aunt Christina wore to last night's awards ceremony.
Step right on over here to learn more about it -- though I will add one more little piece of tiara lore here. Rumor has it that this tiara was forgotten somewhere in the dusty recesses of the Swedish palace until Silvia stumbled upon it and had it restored. Why can't I find more historical tiaras when I'm cleaning house, hm?
You might have imagined that the dark-haired dude in the penguin suit standing beside Victoria was her fiancé, Daniel Westling, but you'd unfortunately be wrong. Daniel was apparently advised not to attend the King's Dinner to avoid exposure to infections, as he's still recovering from a kidney transplant performed earlier this year. But I think Vic managed to score the next best person as a date:

Excellent! I hope none of you are against my penchant for sneaking the lovely Carl Philip into as many photos as possible over here, because let's face it, he's too dreamy to exclude. ![]()

I LOVE her dress. Oh, why can't I be a princess?
She looks stunning and you can sneak Mr. Prince in any day that ends in 'y'.
I agree the dress is gorgeous. So is the escort.
The Scottish Crown jewels (the Honours of Scotland) were stuck in a box and forgotten about for over a century.

The crown is no longer used, but The Queen opened the new Scottish Parliament in 1999, the first to sit for nearly 300 years, it was carried in State to the ceremony. It is a very impressive and ancient hat indeed - other crowns are positively arrivistes by comparison! Well worth a visit if you are ever in Scotland
Victoria looks beautiful, and so serene.
