Birthday Dinner at Fredensborg Palace: HM The Queen of Sweden

Obviously Silvia's reading the blog -- remember how I was just recently complaining that no Swedish ladies ever wear the Modern (Carl Gustaf XVI) Fringe Tiara as a tiara rather than a necklace?  Well, here we go...

... and I've got to say, I think Silvia ought to stick with the necklace version of this one.  I don't think it's nearly grand enough for her -- she usually carries off far more substantial tiaras than this one!  Much better for Madeleine, I think.

(And I've got to say it: that's a lot of cleavage!)

I really like this as a tiara. It's a nice departure from her normally huge diadems. I sometimes think that her tiaras make her look a tad ridiculous (just a tad, though). She's clearly trying the 'less is more' approach for once, and I think it's good to have a change every so often.

Agree with Sir Tom - she wouldn't want to outbling the birthday girl.

They really shouldn't allow overhead cameras at a royal do.

I like it too - I think it's a refreshing take on the same old fringe tiara everyone else has. Better on a younger princess though, I do agree there.

I'm usually happy for Silv to go big - she can carry it off. Like the tiara, not big on the dress, it makes her look slightly like a toffee.
