State Visit Gala: HH Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner
Finally, hatters, finally -- we have a tiara worthy of the title of this blog!
This is Astrid's Feather Tiara, and, appropriately, it's Princess Astrid who's wearing it. Note that, rather than a proper tiara, it appears instead to be a pair of bejeweled and bedazzled antennae. (It's actually supposed to look like two feathers, but let's face it, it's antennae.)
Even Astrid's in on the fun with this one: she's apparently been known to joke that she can pick up radio frequencies from London and Moscow in this little beaut! (Appropriate for a Russian state visit, non?) I love it when the royal hatters do the mad hattery work for me.

Whichever way you look at it, this is a bit meagre - though I love Astrid trying to pick up the radio on it - do you think she tunes into her favourite show when it gets a bit dull at a state do? She could do with a bit more room in that frock couldn't she...
Can you imagine all the Russian spooks eyeing the tiara with trepidation in case she was beaming signals to the opposition! And I know it's just cos I'm evil and she's wearing specs but my first thought was 'Who let Dame Edna in?'
