State Visit Gala: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark

It's wedding tiara night, apparently -- Marie wore hers (not that she has much of a choice!), so Mary's done the same.  Still not a fan ... but I have to say that I'm a little more concerned this time about the crocheted-doily dress and strange candy-diamond belt Mary seems to have on.  Oh, well -- for as many formal fashion "hits" as Mary has, there are bound to be some "misses" along the way!

    Now, I think she's done something different to her hair here, because I really like this tiara today. It looks much more in proportion to the rest of her somehow - is her hair pulled in tighter at the side?? Dress isn't her best, but maybe all the nice ones are still at the cleaners after the birthday bash.

    What has happened to Mary? Her past efforts have been so wonderful, especially the ruby parure and white dress affair where I practically drooled over the image on the screen.
    I can't stand this tiara. It really winds me up the wrong way. A few bits of wire twisted together does not constitute a tiara. I just think she needs to lose the belt, and the frock would be fine.

    When is this poor gal going to get a new tiara? We have seen this so much that it is disappointing to see new pics of her here but with the same old tired, tiny tiara. Please

    Even Mary looks bored here. The tiara looks fine (I'm not such a hater as you lot!) but the dress is dull. But then I guess when you have to look fabulous day in day out, it can get a little wearing, and you just go, 'oh sod it, let's slap that doyley on'...

    I think the dress makes her look a bit matronly, which she definately is not... Maybe it's the lace sleeves and glittery belt?

    Mary is simply stunning in anything she wears!! While Maxima is at the other end of the spectrum, she is usually stunning also. they both represent their countries with intelligence, beauty and grace

    The belt Mary is wearing are the the Danish Order of the Elephant. The most exclusive order of Denmark. Only royalties and heads of state can receive one.

    Looking back at this - I wonder if the expression of boredom or not feeling so wonderful was because she was newly pregnant (and likely not aware of it, judging by the glass of wine in her hand).
