State Visit from The Netherlands - Gala Dinner: HM The Queen of The Netherlands

What a hat-rich day in Norway ... two hats each from Beatrix and Sonja, and now a whole mess of Tiara Alerts!

This little gem is the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara, one of the Dutch tiaras with a slightly uncertain provenance.  The tiara was either made for Queen Sophie (born a princess of Württemberg) in the 1830s and then reworked for Queen Wilhelmina in 1897, or made new in 1897 from a collection of pearls owned by the family.  Like most of the Dutch tiaras, this one can be worn a few different ways; it has a set of drop pearls that can be attached to the top.

No matter when this one was made, it's a stunner, and it's one of the few tiaras around that can stand up to Beatrix's barnet.  In fact, Beatrix liked this tiara so much that she chose it for her wedding to the late Prince Claus in 1966.

On anyone else this would probably cause them to topple over it's so massive, but on Bea it looks fantastic.

Is this the one that HM wore for her wedding? With the pearl spikes.
