The Crown Princess of Sweden's Wedding: HRH Princess Birgitta of Sweden, Princess of Hohenzollern
One of the lovely posters on our rousing royal wedding live post remarked that Princess Birgitta here, the second of the king's four sisters, sort of resembles a character out of Star Wars, and now I can't unsee it. It's something about the way the tiara is placed in her hair, I think -- usually we see this tiara, Queen Sophie’s Nine-Prong Diamond Tiara, up on top of the wearer's head. It's a little strange to see the Pronger out front and center like this, and I think that's what's making her look a little sci-fi.
Of course, the Majorcan tan probably isn't helping, either. Birgitta, the only one of the king's sisters who didn't lose her title when she married (because she didn't marry a commoner), lives on the Spanish island, while her husband, Prince Johann George of Hohenzollern (from whom she's been separated for two decades) lives in Germany. Maybe, erm, a bit of sunblock, Your Royal Highness?

Errm, yes...sun damage is cruel, especially when you aren't carrying any excess weight to plump your skin up.
Now, I really don't want to be mean in this post, I really don't. But she is sort of, well, scary looking. especially with the Nine-Pronger on... eek. And it's an unwise choice to put the band of the dress right on your boobs, Birgitta, dahlink.
Ella, sorry but I have to disagree with you. I am seeing more E.T. than Star Wars...
Ok, time to turn on the "mean girl" in me, but she scares me. I would jump if I saw her in person. The tiara looks so odd on her, though that necklace looks yummy.
Well, I think it's healthy to be a little mean on occasion (or; being nice all the time will wear you out!), and will happily admit that I think she looks absolutely terrifying - and would have said so even if she wasn't a princess attending a royal wedding. The tiara itself is gorgeous, but unfortunately it's the only thing I can say I like here. Well, I suppose the rest of her jewelry is great too...
The gentleman by her side, on the other hand, looks very dapper - and with that uniform, I'm sure he's got a suitably mad hat tucked away somewhere in the royal wardrobes!
I was wondering who this woman was during the wedding broadcast. She is simply frightful. Princess Birgitta is a walking advertisement for the dangers of too much sun and cigarettes.

In her days she was one of the most beautiful princesses in Europe. She was also the one who started the tradition of wearing the cameos as a wedding tiara, but she chose to wear a modern viel.
