Remember how we just debated whether or not we'd tiaras that our ex-mothers-in-law had given us after a divorce? Well, Elena's answered that question today by wearing the Marichalar Meander Tiara -- the very one given to her by her former mother-in-law, to the big wedding. Granted, I don't know that Elena has any other tiaras in her arsenal, and the Spanish ladies wore most of the other family tiaras today -- but the Prussian Diamond Tiara didn't make an appearance, so she could have worn that one.
More puzzling than her decision to wear this particular tiara, though, was the pairing of the tiara with a ... snood?

Infanta Elena and Prince Kyril

I feel that she's channeling a matador with this ensemble!
I would have loved this outfit even with the snood if she hadn't had that jacket.
The matador coat was a bit much, but I honestly like the snood, not to mention the tiara.
I like how she acknowledges her roots in her dressing, and although I think she's a handsome lady she doesn't really suggest soft floaty outfits. The tiara looks great on her, but I really wish she's worn her dress from the night before
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS SHE WEARING????????????
I would have worn the Prussian, if I were her.
Definitely Matador style - Yikes!
Was not expecting this, seeing as the Prussian was available, but hey YOU GO GIRL. That was her gift and she can do what she wants with it. Gotta love her for making everything "spanish"
tiara; nice.
dress; nice, even though pink is not a colour for grown-ups.
snood; not my cup of tea.
bolero; marvellous and makes the entire ensemble!!
Not crazy 'bout the snood. The dress is bright pink, wich is - in my opinion - not a colour for grown up women. The tiara is nice. But the bolero is just wonderful! It makes the entire ensemble!
Bravo!
Ooops. I didn't realize I had already posted...
-"You know i'm spanish !"
-"No? REALLY ?"
Yeah, I really don't know what the heck this outfit was about...it was frightful!
We would have gotten the "I'm Spanish" message with the jacket even if it didn't have that tassle-fringe thing going on. She needed to get rid of the tassles and the snood and she would have looked much more elegant.
I would have liked to seen a bit more make up on Infanta Elena. The rather pale, very light make up made her look very under dressed for such a spectacular event.
She's off to a fancy dress party! Seriously, Elena. No.
much too costume-y. if she got rid of the epaulettes, i think it would be the highlight she intended it to be, rather than prompting people to ask her where her red cape was.
the jacket on its own has incredibly detailed embroidery, and adds beautiful glitz and pattern to an unadorned dress.
i'd like the snood if it was covered with little roses, rather than little furry balls.
