Garden Party: HM The Queen

Nick Griffin may have tried to pull a fast one on Her Maj at this garden party, but Lil clearly doesn't look fussed about the whole thing -- and she's worn one of my favorites of her hats, too!  I don't even care that she wore it a month ago at Ascot -- it's just lovely.

(Don't love the gold hat pin, though -- even my gran had pearly hat pins; surely the palace had one laying around that would coordinate better with the earring/necklace combo?)

I'm still not too keen with this one. The hat's nice enough with no particularly damning qualities about it I suppose, but the neckline of the coat and pattern of the frock underneath are a bit too busy for me. It's all rather twee.

I have to admit I punched the air and yelled "Lillibet you rock!!!" when I heard about Ghastly Griffin getting his invitation withdrawn. Karma is so entirely delightful, especially when delivered in a fetching hat.

I liked this last time out, and I think it's even better this time - must be the angle. She wears that hatpin a lot - maybe it has sentimental value. But she seems to have put her blusher very high up. Gives her a slight geisha look.

I love the hat - I love blue and it looks so wonderful on dear Liz.

I've noticed that during the day, HM seems to wear the same pair of earrings - pearl studs with a tiny diamond.

It seems like Griffin was the only one upset that he wasn't able to come to the party haha. I'm so glad to see this one out again, especially paired with her great outfit. I just love this shade of blue on HM.

Good on ya Lil and your aides.

This hat is nice enough, but I'd like it if the colours were in reverse: turquoise as the foundation colour, etc.

    She looks fabulous!!!!

  7. Arlene says on :

She looks so very festive. Good one, Liz.

Yeah it's fine - nice and all. Bit a bit of a standard, and like I said on the last wear, it's the negative of the Wimbledon titfer.

All I can see is that HUGE (and maybe forced) smile! I so respect this woman on so many levels...truly I do. I wish my own mother had as much energy as this fantastic lady.

And, yes, her chapeau is beautiful!

I believe that the pearl earrings were her grandmother Queen Mary's - although on her, I suppose they were usually lost amid the ropes of pearls, diamond chokers, and cascade of assorted brooches and pins that were for her de rigueur even as daywear!
