Hattery News: The Queen's Year Exhibition
Attention all hatters in the Greater London area: there's an exhibit at Buck House this summer that absolutely cannot be missed!

Check it out -- it's a display of HM's Ascot hattery! It's like a numbered, centralized version of the Mad Hattery! archives. Here's a fun game -- identify which year we've seen each hat on HM at the races! (I identify five here that we've seen on the blog...)
The exhibit, which also features some of HM's beautiful gowns and Prince Phil's naval uniform, opens up on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I'm too far away to make this particular pilgrimage -- but if any of you hatters make it over there, be sure to give us a full report on how these toppers look up close! ![]()

I was literally about to send you a link to this, Ella. You really are too good at this.
Tom, it's a blessing and a curse, LOL!
I really need to try and get down this year - they're showing the state robes which I imagine must be quite a sight. Can't believe that Eagle Sam isn't there though...
The hats at the top are from the 1960s/70s. Then there is one from the 1980s and the bright pink flowers saucer is from 1991. The rest are from 2008, 2009 and 2010

Wow that sounds amazing! Once again I wish I lived in England
I went to see the exhibition 'The Queens Hats and Hadbags' at KP a few years ago - and the highlight for me was walking into a room where there was a huge glass cabinet with about 100 of her hats on spikes. Spinning.
Seriously, I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
And here is a nice piece about the exhibition.I bet you can picture all the titfers!
I'm so excited...I get to see the exhibit! I already have by tickets for Buck House, the Queens Gallery and the Royal Mews. I will represent our close little group proudly...and take as many photos as possible...if they let me. I'm so excited!!!
@ Annie im afraid they dont allow pictures to be taken inside the Queens Gallery or the Palace. You can take pictures in the gardens at the end of the tour. I have done the Palace tour 3 times over the last 4 years and seen some fab exhibitions - hope you enjoy it really is lovely
When looking at the http://www.royal.gov.uk Queens Year exhibition -- be sure to click on the daywear coats in the Dress &Attire section...as each of those also links to a lovely closeup photo of the hat worn with that particular ensemble.
Unfortunate they dont include more of the exhibition items in the online catalog.
It is interesting to view all of the wonderful detailed studio photos -- with the hats displayed as 'objet' -- versus worn on HM's well coiffed head.
Saw the hattery @ Buck House Thursday; sorry, they don't allow photos or video inside the palace! The hats are tucked away, and easy to miss so do be careful to see them. Though, have to say, the photo does the small area they are shown in justice.
