State Banquet: HRH The Princess Royal and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall

We've got tiaras a'plenty tonight at Windsor Castle, hatters!  (Unfortunately, as is tradition with British state banquets, we've only got squinty, long-distance pictures.  But no matter -- on with the bling!)

Princess Anne is sitting to HM's left -- it's a little tough to see in this picture, but she's wearing Princess Andrew's Meander Tiara, the Greek key piece once owned by Prince Philip's mother (and a new tiara to the blog!).  It was given to HM in 1947 by Princess Andrew as a wedding gift, but in 1972 it was passed on to Princess Anne.

We haven't got any decent photos of Camilla's tiara, but it's clear from the back view here (she's on HM's right, sitting beside David Cameron) that it's the old (magnificent) standby, the Boucheron Honeycomb Tiara.  Same old, same old ... can't another be pulled out of the vaults for Cams?

    Doesn't Camilla have access to a lot of the Queen Mum's tiaras? Why doesn't she wear more of them?

    It's a large tiara and I've always liked it, but it hasn't been seen since Queen Alexandra died. Camilla can wear big tiaras. I really want to see this one again.

    I do like the Meander, and it is so businesslike and well... Anne.

    Camilla on the other hand needs more! She did of course wear the Delhi Durbar once, but it seems to have been taken off her - shame, as she wore it beautifully.

    And the Rundell of course - now there is a mystery. It'll no doubt just re-appear one day... perhaps on HRH Waity?!

    Anne can wear a tiara like ordinary mortals wear pyjamas - she just looks so effortless!

    I'm not crazy about the Boucheron - I don't think it really does anything for Camilla.And she doesn't have great tiara hair - they seem to work best on the ladies with BIG hair! Or maybe it's just because I like her normal down-to-earth look.

    Camilla's stuck with the Boucheron Honeycomb because Charles likes her to dress up like his grannie. Fair enough. Later on, he will want her to dress up like his mother, and she'll get to wear the Vlad then, even though it will be invisible in that mop of hair.

    As much as I love the Mighty Bouch, I would kill to see something else on Cams. I'm not sure about the Rundell (though that is due a reappearance).
    And I love the Meander on Anne.
