The German edition of Vogue magazine has released this adorable picture of the Danish crown princely family as a part of an article about the recent renovation of Amalienborg Palace. Here's a link to the article; there's lots of discussion of their incorporation of modern art in the palace.
Of course, what I'm interested in here is Mary's ultra-glam royal maternity look, topped off with her wedding tiara. Somehow, it works for me here -- though I still wish it were a little less sparse and a little more blinged-out. Wouldn't Mary look divine in a proper fringe tiara? Surely producing twin heirs deserves a sparkly gift in return...
(Also -- according to the Vogue website, our favorite window-licking princess, Isabella, was also photographed with the family. I can only guess that they've cropped the photo for the web, and that little Izz is featured in the magazine. Any German hatters/Vogue subscribers who can confirm/deny?)

What a glam picture!! And Isa, come on, don't hide...
I am a German hatter, but (unfortunately for only this once) live in London. I know what I'll be buying when I go home for Christmas next week.
On the tiara: I have never liked this one as it is sparse and pointy, but then again, that woman can carry anything off.
I would have liked it if Mary had worn her gorgeous ruby tiara; it would have stood out so well against her hair especially since the picture is not a close up. Although Mary has beautiful flowing tresses, I think this tiara would have contrasted better if she had worn her hair up in a nice high style. Then I think the diamonds would have popped! Otherwise, a sophisticated, glamorous, tongue-in-cheek photo. All the Crown Prince needs is a crow bar!
That is just how you imagine a prince and princess should look - full evening regalia whilst unpacking tea crates. I don't mind the tiara too much this time around either - maybe it's more a housework piece than a state occasion one?
This is really an excellent photo. Look at the light reflecting off the folds of her dress! Very Van Dyke. I think the tiara is appropriate for the monochromatic tone and angular lines of the picture.
Maybe Princess Izz is busy licking the window again, so they cropped her out. LOL
I love how fab they look. Yes, the tiara could be better (I like the "this is the tiara I wear for doing housework" idea). The dress is fab, although one of the folds looks like her knee bent and if it is, she surely is going to have a worse backache than she already does carrying around those twins!
I love this photo! Mary looks incredibly glam but Frederik needs to get this girl a new tiara. I like the wedding tiara here better than I normally do. I think because her hair is down and full so the tiara doesn't look as sparse. On to the boys, Christian looks like a proper little prince like posing for this picture is just part of normal day and if possible my cruch on Frederik has increased. I love the scruffy beard.
This is just stunning. Mary is beautiful as ever, possibly the most glamorous and sexy pregnant mother of twins ever. Fred is hot, and Christian is cute. This is fabulous royal photography at it's best.
Wow! So fantastic!! And I'm glad Maggie wears her similar tiara cleaning house, as do I.
@Kiri Anne: So glad you saw this -- you, our Danish royal superfan, were the first person I thought of when I found the photo, LOL!
They look like wax works, or the living dead having just emerged from their coffins. I think it’s awful.
yes Isabella appears in the full version of the photo which was cropped.
I think I might have gone insane, folks. I don't like this photo. I truly cannot explain why not!
As for Mary, I love her hair and the tiara looks gorgeous in her hair. Maybe the key to spindly tiaras is volume?
@alpa: Was she licking windows?
How fabulous does Mary look? To be honest, she's still a bit tasty with a couple of regal buns in the oven. Gorgeous. And I understand why therey have gone for this tiara, at it pops out nicely, but not overtly, against her black tresses. It's more fairytale princess than the ruby is - that's just solid bling! - and this is more appropriate for a pregnant lady. Her dress is stunning, too. Perhaps she could have it altered for after the twins make an appearance?
And I don't care how much of a beard Fred has, he'll still always look about 12. Such a boysih face.
@ Ella: Thanks my dear! I do think it's a bit sad they cropped Isabella out. Does anyone have a link to the picture of the entire family?
Jackpot! Many pictures here Scroll down to see. I think Izzy looks so cute, and I love the picture of Mary in the red dress.
What a YummyMummy and HotPapa!! All the photos are superb, and I love this tiara in these photos. It looks great with her hair down and a bit wild. And Isabella and Christian get cuter and cuter as time goes by. I was worried we wouldn't get to see a huge Mary in a tiara and this photo shoot has just made my day!!!
@Eliza: Jackpot indeed!!! What a wonderful find - how adorable is Isabella in her little tutu? Love all of the pics!
Wow! She looks fantastic and the pics with Isabella are gorgeous. Liking the tiara here.
No thanks. The dress is wearing Mary instead of Mary wearing the dress.
Swoon! All the photos are beautiful, but it's a shame the whole family isn't pictured here. My favourite pic is actually the one of Isabella reaching up to Mary's bump.
Thanks for the link to the extra photos, Eliza! I love the tongue-in-cheek intent in many of the pics, particularly Frederik with the bird. I really love the shot of Mary and her daughter - absolutely adorable and an image any mom and daughter could pull off. However... is it just me or is Mary's pose in the red dress just a bit too Demi Moore-ish?
ah! been away at the beach on holiday so nice to come back home and see new hattery posts love you guys!
oh forgot to talk about the photo...Loves it! oooh pps Ella if you can find the engagement photos Mario Testino took of kate and wills you should put them up they look amazing despite the totally not needed photoshoppage!
What a fab photo shoot! Mary's wedding tiara has always reminded me of a tiara skeleton just waiting for the real embellishments to be added.
I see Fred is still rocking his semi-beard here. I think most of the crown princes of Europe have conspired together this year and are sporting the unshaven look.
Is it just me...Mary's tummy looks awfully small to be housing a set of twins in there. She's due in January and we're at mid-December. Shouldn't her tummy be ginormous by now?
Oh I LOVE the one of Mary and Isabella!!! How sweet. And the one with Isabella giving the tummy a love-pat is just the best, especially with the Nissa on the top!
Isabella is right there:

.....ohhh and......Mary thinks LESS IS MORE (tiara).....and I totally agree!!!
i love (most of) these pics! this is my fantasy of what royal life is like (or should be!) - no stress, beautifully dressed and coiffed at all times, the small tiara for unpacking...
DO NOT like the mary in red velvet pic - much too demi moore! crossing into crass imo.
isabella in the big pic - while i feel sorry for her being put on the wrong side of the fold and cut out of the family pic (the life of a "spare"?, i don't like the pose or the tutu outfit which make her look like a pugnacious dwarf, or the haircut which makes her face look really round and neckless.
The Vogue shoot is fabulous -- and tasteful! Not always easy to do. Mary shows her consistent good taste. The gown is the thing and the small tiara just an accompaniment. And, contrary to one prior opinion, I believe she DOES wear the dress; it does not wear her!
Can you imagine the pressure Mary is under to always look well and to have to deal constantly with the myriad critics who love to weigh in, like me...
Somehow Mary projects equal parts warmth, fashion excitement and good taste. Our dear Miss Middleton would do well to do a case study on the divine Mrs. Glucksborg.
And the black and white of Frederik with the falcon in The Royal Forums is one of the sexiest photos of him yet -- and is not in the least vulgar.
They are a great couple! Long may they reign and love!
There are some more of the pictures on this very good blog: http://myroyal-myroyals.blogspot.com/2010/12/photos-from-mary-in-vogue-german.html. I'm a bit sad that royalty has succumbed to Vogue and celebrity culture, but they are stunning pictures.
Thanks for the link Sir Tom. I noticed a couple pictures I hadn't seen earlier. As much as I love Mary, she's just going to have to look the other way while I drool over the very hunky looking picture of her husband (the one with son Christian - just the two of them). Yummy.
