Nobel Prize Ceremony 2010: HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden

CP Vic wore one of the coolest sparklers in the Swedish vaults for this year's Nobel service: the Napoleonic Cut-Steel Tiara.  I love how blingy this tiara manages to be without a single stone in it!  Just so cool.

What's not so cool -- eh, the color of the dress.  It makes me miss last year's magnificent royal purple ensemble.  (It also makes me think, ahem, that we may have a Stork Alert brewing here as well!  Just saying...)

Ooh, how exciting. I caught some of the live broadcast and immediately recognized the Napoleonic Steel Cut. I felt like patting myself on the back :) She has great tiara hair (too bad Madeleine wasn't there, as she always does too). Her outfit does lend itself to stork speculation, doesn't it? A little extra cleavage (especially noticeable the way the sash wraps itself around) and gentle folds of cloth around her midriff... I guess we shall see. I do wish the dress wasn't the same color as her skin though.

  2. Ursula says on :

Both the dress and the tiara make her look very Empress Josephine-ish. Appropriate, no?

  3. jj says on :

You could be on to something Ella with the stork alert... I think Victoria's baby would be beautiful! They have dated for 10 years. Now is the right time me thinks!!

  4. Leslie says on :

I have to admit that at this point, in any photo of Victoria, I first look at her abdomen. This dress is promising in terms of early pregnancy. Hmmmm!

I think Victoria looks lovely, though I really dislike the tiara. I've never cared for this one, I'm afraid.

  5. Ashley says on :

This is my favorite tiara of all time, and she looks fab in it.

  6. KyPerson says on :

I love that tiara, and good examples of cut steel jewelry are rather rare. I've heard that in the candlelight, cut steel glows very softly and beautifully. I'd love to see it in real life.

Victoria is lovely, and I do hope there is a baby soon.

  7. Sir Tom says on :

I've never been too keen on this tiara, but I must admit, it does look lovely here.
No then, let's see. Skirt deseceding from under the bust, swathes of fabric around the tum... there may well be a little Swedish sprog brewing in there.

  8. Sir Tom says on :

Oh, and the colour of the frock is not the best for her. Nude is very in, but I would associate it with Charlene in Monaco. Victoria suits stonger colours.

  9. maggie says on :

I really like the cut steel - it's such an intricate piece. And yes, that does look very suspiciously bump-shaped. An empire waist always does though. the design of the dress is lovely - I like the beading - but the colour is just a bit too washed out on her.

  10. Malluu says on :

@Ursula - She is totally channeling Empress Josephine here.

I really like the dress, although not as much as last year's purple one. I've never liked this tiara but Victoria wears it well.

  11. Patricia says on :

I do like how Victoria looks; the epitome of a 19th-century princess with the short sleeves, empire waist, low neckline and swathes of flowing fabric. But I'm also not keen on the flesh-toned color; it's so diluted and she should stick with wearing the strong colors. I've never been keen on the cut-steel tiara, but kudos to how it well it looks with this ensemble. I love the star emblem at her waist as well.

  12. Kikky says on :

I've always wondered about those star emblems/orders (or whatever they are).... I know they have significance, but I also can't help but think they help the royal posture. Because if you slouch with one of those pinned under your bosom, you ARE going to know that you need to sit up straighter! LOL

  13. Jen says on :

I think the dress and tiara go extremely well together and I find the dress color lovely- she looks every inch a royal Princess!

  14. Eliza says on :

I agree with Sir Tom, stronger/richer colours look great on Vics. But really, Victoria, what were you thinking when you ordered this design?? It's way to busy with all the orders and sash.

The NCST has never been a favourite of mine, but I don't mind it with this tiara hair.

  15. Eliza says on :

Did everyone see the back of the dress? I can't decide if that makes it totally awesome or even worse...

  16. royalbuff says on :

Oooo...wish I hadn't seen the back of the dress...ruined it for me but I do like the NSCT and her tiara hair looks amazing front and back

  17. James B says on :

I like this look actually. Sure strong colours work well go her, but this empire style is very flattering and the tiara looks great. I love the tiara actually, and it always males me chuckle to imagine Silvia with a headscarf and a pinnie on, cleaning out the cupboards when she finds it!!

As for Vic being up the duff, well I guess this style is always going to get is thinking that... We'll just have to wait and see!!

  18. Sir Tom says on :

The back of the dress looks appalling.

  19. alpa says on :

i love this dress! i'm not usually a fan of nude-colored dresses because they usually don't go well with the person's skin tone, but this i love! maybe it's the way it tones with the sparkly bits? and the sparkly bits aren't fighting with a strong dress color, so it can highlight the form. and the sparkly bits are lovely, works of art.

i like the back too. a little risque, yes, by royal standards, but she's young enough and in plenty good enough shape to carry it beautifully! i'd much rather see her sexy back than the overly bosomy looks some display.
i esp like the way the sparkly waistband makes her waist look tiny.

the tiara looks great with this dress imo.

  20. PJ25 says on :

Very Empress Josephine and I LOVE IT! The tiara and jewelry go perfect with the dress, just perfectly. And I love the backlessness of the dress. Oh Victoria, you are quickly becoming my favourite royal to watch.

  21. Cece says on :

I love the back, but not with the ribbon stretched across it. Ruins the line and the drama. Didn't Diana used to pin the ribbon at shoulder and hip on a backless dress?
I realize that is probably not what one should do with the ribbon-but I think she did.

  22. Yvonne says on :

I think Victoria looked lovely, even though I'm rarely keen on the kind of colour Victoria wears here.
The tiara is beautiful though. Here's a link for a good close up:

  23. Kelli says on :

I agree with Ursula- the cut of the dress, her hair and the tiara made me think of Josephine. Although, since the tiara is Napoleonic, the ensemble is very apropos!

The way the dress falls does make her look like she has a little bit of a bump... don't know if she is pregnant, but if she is... very exciting!

  24. Daniel23 says on :

I know I am late to the party, but I love this look (except for the back of the dress which looks rather sloppy where it fastens). I also do not think she looks pregnant. It is simply how an empire waist hangs, and she has a beautiful build for it.

I also think the color, while subtle and understated, is extremely flattering and allows the cut of the gown and the drape of the fabric to provide the flair.

The only things that strike me as out of tone are the sash and order star, but I understand that these things are worn in any case and they could be worse.
