Order of the Elephant New Year's Court: HM The Queen of Denmark

Love the Emerald Parure Tiara, love the overall look -- but Daisy, the dress needs to take a breather.  We've seen it twice in the last year alone!

I do love this dress - it's certainly a showstopper - but three times in a year, and at the biggest occasions? Probably could do with a break. The emeralds are stunning though.

I haven't been on the forum long enough to recognize a "three-peat," and if that's the case then HM should definitely dig deeper in her wardrobe for something she hasn't worn for awhile if she doesn't want to get something new. But the color is gloriously sumptuous and so rich that it reflects back the light. It's the "look at me, I'm the Queen" gown! I also love, love that shaggy fur stole and those emeralds are absolutely eye-popping. And, hey, what's another order or two or three or whatever on the royal bosom? I think I counted five altogether.

Oops, your comment made me realize I forgot the links to the previous wearings, Patricia! Added now -- the birthday gala from last April is almost a carbon copy of this look.

  4. Malluu says on :

I fine with repeats just not of everything at the same time. Mix it up a little. She wore the same jewels, gown, and fur stole together at her birthday gala. That aside this tiara is just gorgeous!

  5. Patricia says on :

Ella...hope you know I didn't mean anything by that and thank you for adding the links. Now I see that the Queen is a creature of habit down to the placement of her orders and perhaps because she read all the approving comments from the other times on the forum, she decided to go with a sure thing LOL. Although she looks utterly majestic, she needs to freshen up her look for these gala events and vary the jewels, furs and gowns.

I'll agree, she looks incredibly majestic and every inch the Head-Bitch-in-Charge, but come on Daisy - three times in the space of a year? Sort it out, love.
I will never whinge about emeralds, though. NEVER. I love them. Covet them. Drool over them... *men in white coats take Sir Tom back to the funny farm*...

  7. Eliza says on :

The dress is incredibly majestic, but aren't there other outfits that are equally majestic? I know, it saves money, and I'm all for that- but so close together?

  8. Eliza says on :

Haha, almost forgot about the tiara- it's gorgeous, obviously :)

  9. Kikky says on :

Hahaha! My first thought, before reading anything, just upon viewing the photo "awww Daisy! I absolutely love this dress but AGAIN??" I still love this look, but variety is the spice of life.

Before I enlarged the picture ( on my phone) I thought the tiara was the floral aigrette. If she's going to wear the same dress, why not try it with different tiaras? I'd love to see that one out a bit more often.

  10. Ella says on :

@Patricia: Nope, no offense taken at all -- in my haste to get these up, I forgot to put the links in where I intended and didn't realize until I read your comment! :)

  11. DK says on :

Three times a year or not she looks every inch a queen (and am myself partial to green).

I agree with Sir Tom.....the emeralds are to die for.

  12. Robin J says on :

Wearing a dress once and then retireing it would be just stupid, but I totally agree with you all; Same fur, same dress and same jewels as at her birthday party? I know Queen Silvia keeps track of the jewels and dresses she has worn not to show up in the exact same combo. I think someone needs a lesson!
The floral aigrette would be super for this occasion, don't you think?

That aside; Wow, what a combo that is!!

  13. Ky Person says on :

That's the problem. The dress, the fur and the jewels are all very striking individually, and together they are almost overpowering. If Daisy wore the dress with different jewels and a different fur it wouldn't have been so deja vu.

But I love the emeralds. I don't see the queen wearing them that often and they are so beautiful!

  14. James B says on :

Okay it's repeat schmepeat, but really it is fabulous. I love Marge and this is so damn regal it hurts. She can pop by mine for a bevvy any time in this little number!

  15. Kiri Anne says on :

I'm with James B. She is just awesome all dressed up in her Queen clothes. And thoes emeralds!!!!! I'd wear them all the time too!
In an aside, Daisy does tend to have 'issues' with her non-regal dressing. She looked abslutely lovely for the Holiday Speach this year. Great color, great make-up, nothing nuts . . . a grand improvement.

  16. PJ25 says on :

She cld wear this everyday as far as I'm concerned! I can stare at those emeralds for days on end, they are so beautiful and I love this particular parure. The geometric glowing green emeralds mixed with the whimsical desings of the tiara is just so Daisy!

  17. Matthew says on :

And lest we forget, there's that ROCK on HM's finger as well. Zounds! I believe HM is a tall woman and that makes these impressive displays even more wonderful.

  18. Cece says on :

Love the emeralds. Love the gown. HATE them together. The blue-green of the emeralds and the yellow-green of the gown just clash terribly to my eyes. I would rather see the emeralds with dark grey (like Marie's gown) or black, or even the navy that has violet undertones. Let the emeralds star, not compete. With this gown I want diamonds and pearls. Lots of them, but no colored stones.

  19. Suze says on :

I love the green gown but Queen M has worn it three times recently and she could have worn it with plain diamonds this time and with a simpler stole because that favourite fur overpowers the grandeur of the gown.
Sorry, Daze, only a B- this time.

  20. Sir Tom says on :

Not really sure where to post this, but Mary has given birth to the twins. A baby boy and girl to add to the fold. :)
