Stockholm Palace: HM The Queen of Sweden and HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden

A major Tiara Alert from Sweden this evening!  CG, Sil, Vic, and Dan all attended an official dinner at the palace, and they brought their bling along.

Victoria's wearing the Baden Fringe Tiara -- AKA my all-time favorite fringe.  I love how it tapers down along the side of the head -- so, so gorgeous!  And Silvia, of course, is wearing the same diamond-and-sapphire fortress that she donned at this year's Nobel ceremony: the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure Tiara.  Still not loving it.  Leuchtenberg Sapphire fans, convince me! :)

    baby bump? baby bump??

  2. Eliza says on :

@ scarebaby- my thoughts PRECISELY. Certainly looks that way, what with the dress choice and her figure. (I don't like the dress, though :) )

I love the Baden fringe too, Ella. My all time favourite fringe. I love how it seemingly wraps around her head.

I don't think I can convince you of the LSPT, but you must agree that it looks better with the white dress than it did at the Nobel Prize Ceremony.

Yeah that nightgown of a dress is not exactly doing anything to put to rest any pregnancy rumors! Great tiara, terrible dress.

  4. Phoebe says on :

First, the dresses: they both look like they are wearing nightgowns. Awful.

The tiaras: beautiful. Sorry, but I love big sapphires (all big gems actually). And I disagree: I thought Silvia looked spectacular at the Nobel dinner.

Victoria: she definitely has put on weight around the middle, assuming it's not the dress that's making her look that way. Whether that means anything, time will tell I guess. Although I must say, the King looks happier than he has in a long time.

Silv looks perfect for me, the jewels and gown, love! Is this gown from the same (japanese?) designer that made her red nobel gown? I adore the fortress, I think its a love it or not type of deal tho.

As for our dearest Vicki, she is either putting on weight getting ready for pregnancy or is already preggers. But I feel like I've been saying this for a few months now. Love the halo fringe tiara, loved the gown in one of her earlier official photographs but not diggin it so much this time round.

Different strokes and all that bit I don't know how anyone could NOT love those sapphires. The whole set is amazing, so huge and regal, Silv looks so damned fabulous I love it. A good outing for the Baden fringe, but yes... that does rather look like the beginning of a baby bump. Poor old Vic eh...

Victoria can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. As for Silvia's tiara - it's one of my favorites. I love sapphires, and the ones in the tiara are particularly beautiful. I've seen a good close-up of the piece and the workmanship is superb. Silvia is one of those people who naturally looks good in a tiara. I love it.

  8. Paula says on :

I have to say this, but I think Syl's dress is a little too low cut for her. She looks so frail and the bones of her chest are showing. The neckline does allow for the jewels to be shown off, but should she be wearing the jewels or should they wear her? Does that make sense?

Victoria does look different, but I've given up on pregnancy speculation. I was looking for it everywhere.

Finally, Daniel looks the same in each picture I see of him. It's rare to see him smile. Still wishing he'd wash the goop out of his hair, get a good natural cut and let it go.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Queen Silvias Alixis Colby-dress here! And the Leuchtenberg Saphires look gorgeus with white! They "pop" more than they did with the emerald green she wore at nobel. I agree with JamesB here; How can anyone NOT love them?

Victoria - though fabuolous as ever - looks a bit underdone here; I would've added a few more, longer diamond necklaces to add to the 1910's look of the dress.

And yes; she looks a bit "fuller figured" than she has. My guess though is that she is wearing more covered dresses now, to avoid speculation when she *needs* to wear them...

Gott in Himmel, those frocks need cutting up for oil rags. They are appalling. Victoria's in particular is very bad 80's Diana.
Onto tiaras, and both are splendid, though I do think the Baden doesn't look quite right here for some odd reason. She needs more, as RobinJ argues. And how can anybody fail but to love those sapphires?! Fabulous.

  11. alpa says on :

vic had better be pregnant - that's the only way i can excuse such an unflattering dress.
not so bad as to detract from her tiara of course - nothing can make that tiara look bad! - but it certainly makes her look big, and doesn't enhance the tiara or necklace. maybe a colored jewel set would have looked better with such a pale gown?

silvia: i like this dress, and think it really helps the necklace and tiara pop.
and there's nothing you can say to make me not love this tiara and necklace! one of my faves! beautiful design, deep blue sapphires, regally big and imposing - gorgeous!

re: Pcss V's dress...with the high waist and slightly short sleeves, it looks like she wore her big sister's hand-me-down dress. Proportion is everything; and, while I don't object to the pearl/dove grey color or the embroidery in principal, the overall effect is a bit, um, dumpy. And CP Victoria is anything but dumpy. But her loving smiles at her husband dispell much that I don't like...If you're happy in a burlap bag, it will show better than if you're unhappy.

  13. Suze says on :

Where did Vic get that old-lady dress? She has such beautiful arms as well! Anyhow, I love Vic's simple jewellery.
Then, as for Syl, she usually overdoes the ice and here we go again. So, Syl could have left off the necklace this time and I feel she would have looked better. In fact, she killed the simple dress with too many rocks.

  14. maggie says on :

I think I kind of wish that they'd swapped dresses (and she's either pregnant or loves working royal blog followers into a frenzy of "baby bump" speculation). But my goodness doesn't that tiara look gorgeous on her?

The sapphire necklace is a stunner - the tiara is a bit of a big solid bumper (fender I believe it's called in the former colonies) on the head - maybe there's a bread roll fight at these dos and she wanted protection??

  15. Patricia says on :

From the neck up, the ladies look suitably glamorous with the drool-worthy jewels, though Vic does need more bling on her. Those over-embroidered sleeves are no substitute for gems. And sorry, Ella, I still love the fortress of sapphires and diamonds on Sylvia; she can just carry it off. Maybe the sapphire necklace is a bit overdone, but it still looks good perhaps because of the simplicity of the dress. Speaking of which, the less said the better about these negligees on both ladies. I'm in full agreement that Victoria looks pregnant and if Sylvia thought to deflect those rumors by wearing a similar style, she's sadly mistaken. But it's so nice to see Daniel beside Victoria again; he's seemed to be absent lately.

  16. cece says on :

Some evening gowns are made for standing still and having your photo taken-Queen Daisy's green one, for instance. She really doesn't even need to be in that dress, it stands up by itself. Some are made to swirl gracefully around your ankles as you waltz. I'm thinking that Victoria's gown would look lovely in motion-fluttery sleeves and light fabric skirt-but standing still it just hangs on her-no shape at all.
Well Ella, at least we won't need to arm wrestle for the sapphires when Sylvia gets tired of them-since you don't like them I guess I'll have to take them.

  17. G says on :

I don't remember if this is mentioned here before or if you knew but the reason for Daniel to be absent so much lately is that he rolled to study physiology in uni.

  18. G says on :

And I think that Vicki has grudually started to use concealing clothes gradually after the wedding in preparing for pregnancy. Can't say if she is already but hope that she is or soon will be and that pregnancy goes well.
