State Visit from Lithuania - Gala Dinner: HM The Queen of Norway

Tough to see here, but a fairly standard tiara outing for Queen Sonja -- it's the small setting of Queen Maud's Pearl Tiara.  Lovely!

It's okay: an Edwardian-looking hairstyle for an Edwardian-looking tiara. But, the Lithuanian President has such great body language that she makes the other ladies look drab.

And lo, Her Majesty wore neither her her yellow Studio 54 dress nor her salmon flap dress. And the people rejoiced.

Lovely tiara! But I don't care for the dress much...

I prefer this setting of the tiara; the original is a bit heavy for my taste. And I love the frock. It's not every woman who can pull off that shade of yellow. It really shows off her trim figure.

When Sonja gets it right, she really looks amazing - a really good combination of tiara, hair, necklace and dress, and for once the sash doesn't cause the whole thing to crash and burn! The whole ensemble seems to elongate her. Bravo!

I like this on our Sonja - and as ever... fab tiara hair!

What I like most is how she and Astrid and going in together, like my two Aunties who always start the dancing at weddings. Bless em.

Good lord, terrifying patterns! That's all I could see for a while. And really, those dresses are horrid.

I do love the tiara and the hair.

The first time Queen Sonja wore this yellow gown was in 1996! Props to her for maintaining her beautiful figure and being able to wear the same gown 15 years later.

Queen Sonja has the best tiara hair in the world. I think this dress would be elegant in person even though it photographs as "busy", and it does look very nice with the order.

I still remember an interview I saw with her when the winter Olympics were in Lillehamer. She was so poised, warm and friendly.
