State Visit from South Korea - State Banquet: HM The Queen of Denmark

Here's one of the clearest glimpses we've had so far of Queen Marg's Diamond and Turquoise Bandeau Tiara, a Queen Ingrid legacy.  It's a small, simple tiara, but something about it really suits Queen M -- and not just the fact that it's made up of daisies!

It mustn't have been a very stimulating banquet if Daisy has to check her pulse...

    love your post Ontarian...too funny...

It kind of looks like snails.

She has rather elegant hands, hasn't she? And the red nail varnish - can't imagine ER being so "with-it".

This is a very pretty set, but it's kind of small and delicate for a reigning Queen. Come on, Daisy, give the set to one of the daughters in law.

A message board on jewelry I stumbled across once had a running joke about turquoise tiaras being "beer drinking" tiaras because they seem more casual. I'd love to have a pint or two with Daisy!

This is a very flattering photo of QM and she looks quite pretty. The strong pink with the red sash looks good. I wonder about wearing turquoises with these strong colors though. Maybe QM chose this tiara to send a message to her guests, since I doubt any of the Korean ladies had a tiara. I really like QM and amd still looking for a good biography of her, in English of course.

Daisies for Daisy! It's very pretty indeed. It does really suit her, I'd love to see it out and about more often

I had to look twice before realizing that the central jewel was a pendant, not a brooch, since you can hardly see the chain. Another jewel that requires a heavier necklace! And I also have to agree that the set should be gifted to a DIL since it's not substantial enough for a queen. But I really don't care for the color combo of the turquoises with the hot pink/red; they certainly stand out but I'd have liked to have seen a complementary color palette.

Actually, it's not daisies in the tiara -it's chikory flowers. According to Bjarne, expert on Danish royal jewels, her majesty is quite annoyed that so many people refer to the flowers in the tiara as daisies :-) (http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/1305263332.html)

I think this tiara is very pretty and is too small for a First Lady to wear! It would be better on one of her DILs. Also, the tiara and earrings stones are much smaller than the pendant stones. So, they do not match enough for me either.

Although Daisy looks like she is either planning revenge on someone or taking her pulse, this color scheme is not too offending, with the pink gown, blood red sash, and of-course the turquoise tiara. Her pull-back hair-do allows for the right amount of visuals

Love the tiara - hate it with the pink. Just not a good combo for me. Oh Daisy, you're normally spot on in the evenings love...

  14. Sir Tom says on :

Oh Daisy, I normally love this tiara (and I'm not generally a fan of turquoises), but you just ruin it with the frock. They do stand out, though.

Piffle. That deep rose is the perfect complement to the turquoise, and manages not to argue too badly with the sash. I don't think the tiara is too little for a reigning queen but it is nicely understated.
