Royal Ascot 2011, Day Two: HRH Princess Haya of Jordan, Sheikha of Dubai

When I think of Princess Haya, I think of '40s glam, not '70s/'80s ... well, whatever this is. Dislike.

The shape and color overall aren't bad, but it obviously sits way too low over her eyes and lacks any embellishments! At least it isn't as bad as Danielle Lineker's floppy disaster on day one . . .
All I can think of with this one is fancy beach hat. Sigh.
Oh dear.
Wasn't this UFO spotted in Roswell, New Mexico, back in the '50s? On the plus side, I love the deep peach outfit and those sapphire earrings are to die for.
To me, a summer hat needs to do two things: Protect you, and your eyes, from the sun and, flatter you, especially your face. I like this hat a lot. It's classy, understated, protects her and her eyes from the sun and, draws one's eyes to beatuful lower half of her beautiful face. I love it, especially paired with the earrings and dress. Bravo!
I believe the design is from the mid '60's, and I adore this on the Sheikha. I agree that it is a bit conservative considering Ascot is a hat-stravaganza. Lovely.
Anybody in there?
