Heck, if you're a member of the Romanov family, can you really wear any kind of tiara other than a kokoshnik? This one doesn't seem to be a historical piece from the Russian imperial collection, so we'll just call it Maria Vladmirovna's Kokoshnik Tiara. Whether it's new or old, I think it's beautiful!

Stick an apple pie in her hands, shorten up the dress, add a sensible pair of shoes and a handbag, and she'd look just like Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith Show.
Word on the street is her tiara is paste. Either way, it's striking.
That blue eyeshadow! That loud gown!
I love when Maria gets invited to the big royal shindigs. You don't see her that often. I wish we could see the tiara better. I don't know if she has any jewels left from her grandmother, great grandmother, or whoever. I know her grandparents sold many of them. This looks pretty, and I hope for her sake it's real.
Also, her son Georgy looks just like her!! He's a cousin of Georg of Prussia, so I hope we'll see him and his mother at that wedding in August.
Well if you are going to go paste you might as well go all in. A purple mumu is a bit much though.
Nice to see the Romanovs out and about. You can certainly spot Maria coming a mile away!
Her kokoshnik is a perfect look for her. Lovely. I do wish she would consult with Maria Teresa for some clothing advise as the dress she is wearing is pretty awful actually. Perhaps something in a solid color or a suit, yes a suit would look so much better.
Agreed with my fellow Hattery Posters that it is nice to see her at an event...come to think about it I believe this is the first time I've seen her at any royal event.
Loveinlorne, I am still laughing at your comparison of GD Maria to Aunt Bea. Actually, I think Aunt Bea looked better.

No, that's a picture of Aunt Bea having swiped Caroline's hat from the civil ceremony.
The Aunt Bea references have me lol. I didn't even know there were Romanoffs left in the world. What survivors. Does anyone know the minimum lifestyle requirements for owning a tiara?
I think she looks lovely, like someone I'd like to know.
