I'm a little on the fence about this tiara, hatters -- it's the Dutch royal family's Aquamarine Parure Tiara, full of magnificent large stones and dating to the 1920s, when Queen Wilhelmina gave the tiara to her daughter, the future Queen Juliana, as an eighteenth-birthday present. So it's fancy, and historical, and yet -- something about it is so ... bumpy? I don't know.

I love it. I also love that she was one of the few guests to really pile on the jewels. A full parure, including what I think is a giant aquamarine brooch masquerading as belt buckle, if I'm not mistaken.
For my money, Maxima came in second only to the bride for the duration of the festivities.
(except the civil ceremony. . .I don't want to talk about what the bride wore there. . .except for the diamond and pearl necklace she wore to the evening celebration. . .yowza!)
I wasn't in love with it until I did a little photo research. This close-up [ http://dutchroyaljewels.blogspot.com/2011/05/aquamarine-parure.html ] makes it look ethereal and almost barbaric/sci-fi princessy. I love it!
Max's necklace makes up for what is lacking in the tiara.
she is briliant at adapting her jewelry to other uses. remember the diamonds on her turban hat at the april wedding? the aquamarine belt buckle is equally inspired.
I don't think pictures do the tiara justice. It is hard to see the aquamarines. Loved the use of a brooch for a belt! Well done Maxima!
Does Maxima have a stylist?
Very pretty; all of it!
If you look at the link posted above, no one has rocked this parure like Max. I would guess that the tiara is stunning in person. The necklace is a bit trickier with the small strands, but is similar to Queen Mary's emerald sautior (sp?).
I don't really care for belts on formal dresses, it breaks up the elegance with something that seems professional to me. The rest is lovely.
I think the lighting in this photo is what's really killing it; aquamarines are so light and transparents that they disappear in the dark. In a lighter atmosphere this would look stunning, as I'm sure it did in person.
Even this picture is lovely but when you see the tiara in another link it's beautiful. I'm sure the overall effect of the aquamarine dress (another winner) with the aquamarine jewels was subtly elegant. "Subtle" being an approach more of the royals should look into.
Max looks STUNNING...oh my goodness. She is sublime. Yeah, agreed that the tiara is a little "bumpy", but holy smokes look at her dress and accessories. She looks so put together here. WOW, GO MAX!
At the risk of hyperbole, Max looks like a sea-foam goddess wearing the perfect gown and jewels celebrating a Mediterranean wedding. Even the tulle bordering the gown at the hips looks like ocean waves. This whole ocean/sea/waves theme has really gotten to me as you can see. Maybe it is the lighting, but perhaps the tiara probably would have been displayed better if her hair was piled in an updo. Magnificent, Max!
I think this tiara is too small and too sparse for Maxima.
