Another outing for the Wessex Wedding Tiara -- Sophie looks great, but I'm a little bothered about the visibility of the base of the tiara with this hairdo. This seems to be a common problem with this particular tiara. Maybe it needs to be lowered?

the base of the tiara really doesn't bother me, although I do wish Sophie would wear her other two tiaras more often...she looks radiant...
Can't stand the base.
I think Soph deserves a new tiara. She has been a loyal and hard-working wife and princess. The queen should crack open the vault and give her something worthy of her. LOve the blue gown. It is really glorious.
I hate the earrings with this ensemble. They look more suited with a....a suit! A day outfit and not a splashy sparkly evening outfit.
I really do not like this tiara. It was put together with spare pieces and it looks it.
Earring choice not good for a formal evening look.
100% agree with nancy.
Or, Edward should step up (not likely) and treat her to a new grand tiara that is much grander. She really does deserve a new tiara. She shouldn't have to wait until HM passes for that to happen either.
Not only is the problem with the high base of the tiara, but also the gaps between those diamond mounts. It needs more ornamentation in between. This tiara was cobbled together for Sophie's wedding with pieces from a crown of Queen Victoria's, so while it may have good historical provenance, it's just badly designed and needs to be relegated back to the jewel vault. But that is a sumptuous color for Sophie and really brings out her blue eyes.
The base is not merely visible; it makes the tiara appear as an afterthought. Is it a problem with headaches or is it just that her hairstyle is not voluminous enough? In any case this tiara has never worked very well.
