Okay, I know I joke a lot about Camilla Castro's hat choices, and this dress is a little too Beetlejuice for my tastes -- but holy moly, the TIARA! This is what we'll call the Dragonfly Tiara, a hundred-year-old sparkler made of diamonds and rubies that features dragonflies mounted en tremblant so that they move when the wearer moves.
It's not a Bourbon-Two Sicilies heirloom; it seems likely that it was bought at auction instead. Why, why, why don't people buy me fabulous diamond dragonfly tiaras at auction, hm???

I think that I would really like this tiara but it's hard not to get distracted by everything else going on.
I don't really know anything about this nutter, but I LOVE her style! (THAT DRESS! AND floating dragonflies?!) It takes some serious cojones to show up at a royal wedding in that ensemble - knowing you're going to draw attention from the bride. And thank goodness someone did, because I was not thrilled with Princess Charlene's conservative (pedestrian) gown/jewelery/tiara choices!
I had never heard of "en tremblant" before. What a fabulous concept!
Her dress is terrible, but this has got to be one of the coolest tiara's I've ever seen. Great choice. And that necklace is amazing as well.
Well, by the look of the ruling family of Monaco, Camilla certainly fits in just fine. They are ALL WACKY I tell ya and Camilla looks just as wacky...love it!
There's a wonderful picture of this tiara in Geoffrey Munn's Tiara book (all tiara lovers should have this). The dragonflies can be worn as brooches if desired. Munn's book has pictures of several other tiaras with dragonflies, they were popular in the Art Nouveau movement.
I'm glad this was identified as a dragonfly tiara because those pieces sticking up looked like the sharp points on barbed wire until I had a closer look. Nothing like a multi-purpose tiara that you can get your money's worth from by wearing as a necklace or brooches as well. Intriguing design, and the necklace is unusual and lovely in a Byzantine way. I'll stop right there and won't even mention the awning-patterned dress.
Love the tiara and then necklace. Wow they are beautiful, delicate and elegant. About that dress.....
I get a kick out of this lady. I bet she'd be an interesting dinner companion.
Is this not the same tiara called the Bourbon-Two Sicilies Floral Tiara in the tiarapedia???
But I do agree fascinating company at a Dinner I would imagine!!!
I hope it's okay to post a link to a close up of this tiara, which would, I just have to say look much better with my dark hair. http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/3370/castrotiara.jpg
