Albert and Charlene's Reception: HRH The Princess of Hanover, Hereditary Princess of Monaco

A tiara for Caroline!  I was worried that we wouldn't see any tiaras on the Monegasque princesses, because the family's collection is currently in a traveling exhibit, but Caro managed to show up with a sparkler anyway.  This is what we'll call the Sapphire Necklace Tiara, because -- surprise, surprise! -- this tiara is a convertible piece more often worn as a necklace.  I think it's lovely this way, though.  Substantial, modern, and gorgeous.  Hooray!

Excellent, all right, thanks for coming back to reality your royal highness. Well, done, lovely, beautiful. And, I am only talking about the tiara, earrings, ring and bracelet folks.

The tiaras that were on the exhibit were sent back to Monaco for the wedding. The exhibit is currently in São Paulo, Brazil, where I live, and I went to see it twice. The first time there were 4 tiaras on display. The second time, about 2 weeks ago, there was only one, and it was a replica. I was told they weren't there anymore because of the wedding. So the tiaras were in Monaco, I don't know why the ladies didn't show up with them. Nice tiara on Caroline, though.

The tiara and jewelery are lovely...but what in the name of all that is holy is his woman wearing?! It looks like one of my grandmother's little old lady nighties...from the 1930's. Gah!

Caro's wearing some heart-stopping jewelry, and I can't take my eyes off that diamond boulder she's got on her finger. And her tiara sports some serious sapphires. If only the lining of her dress matched the lace, it wouldn't give the impression that she slipped straight out of her boudoir into the wedding reception. I don't know what's going on with that neckline either.

I know it's a bit tactless to say "Cheer up love, it might never happen" to the Grimaldi clan, but honestly, I don't think it would have been too much to ask them to try to look a little bit happy for their brother and uncle. Glum faces all round, with the notable exception of little Alexandra, and frankly when it's being left to an eleven year old to show how to behave at a wedding, that doesn't look good.

Anyway, rant over (goodness I sound like that scary mother in law!!) - I really like this. It's has a gravitas that befits Caroline's position, and the colour really suits her.

@maggie: "...goodness I sound like that scary mother in law!" oh my goodness, so funny!!! Loved it!
