Albert and Charlene's Reception: HSH The Princess of Monaco

A brand-new princess needs a brand-new tiara, doesn't she? Charlene may not have worn a tiara proper to her wedding, but she pulled out a modern and rather intriguing new tiara for tonight's reception. This is the Baumer Aigrette Tiara, made by Lorenz Baumer. Here's another look at the tiara itself. It's a small and unusual piece, but I like it!
Charlene actually got two tiaras for her wedding -- she also now owns a diamond-and-sapphire Van Cleef & Arpels tiara that can be converted into a necklace. It features a "wave" design ... perfect for an Olympic swimmer! ![]()

I have been squinting at the pictures on and off all day, and comparing the pictures to the tiara in the picture in the link, and it seems to me that she's wearing it in a different way.
The way she's wearing it seems to bury the diamonds in her hair, instead of let them float where we can ogle them. Because those are some amazing diamonds! Maybe we'll get to see it the other way round in the future?
Or, am I just suffering from Canadian visit/Monaco wedding delirium?
I think that this lovely tiara is perfect for a younger princess, a daughter. I would have appreciated a much bolder choice something befitting The Princess of Monaco.
If Charlene had dark hair, those diamonds would have been outstanding. But between her light hair and the manner in which she wore this piece, it just looked like wires wrapped in her hair. For the wife of a reigning sovereign, I would want her to wear more substantial tiaras or hair ornaments. Some nice diamonds earrings would have been nice for this occasion as well.
The tiara gets lost in her blonde hair. The new tiara would probably be more dramatic on a brunette.
She deserves a much bolder tiara fitting someone of her new station in life. Especially after all of the drama surrounding her wedding caused by her new hubby.
Also, Van Cleef and Arpels has a video on You Tube explaining the new tiara that Prince Albert had created for her. The concept behind the design is cool. I will need to see it on Charlene to give it the thumbs up.
I think this tiara is fabulous! What a wonderful contemporary design that is still glamorous. Once Princess Charlene (and her hairdressers)have a little more time to explore it's possibilities I'm sure we'll see it to its full advantage.
I looked at the closeup at the jewellers and am not impressed; too sparse. A side note-truly worried about this young bride; she appears to be distracted and just going along with it all.
It looks like a tiara fascinator.
Since I am not the only confused one on this - does it look like itnis sapphires and rubies to anyone else? It doesn't look like the link to me at all. Maybe it is the light? I do like the picture on the link and think that would be gorgeous.
Any scoop on the other tiara? We don't get much tiara action outnof Monaco and I hate to think how long we will have to wait to see it.
One a positive note, Charlene is at one tiara per child, maybe there will be two more coming which could at least benefit the hattery fans!
I saw a picture of the other tiara at a royal jewels message board I stumbled across yesterday. It's amazing. It's a more traditional tiara, and it's very substantial, with saphires and diamonds with in a modern, but also very pretty desing of scrolls and "waves". It can also be worn as a necklace. It's even named : "Ocean"
There's a video on YouTube of the sapphire and diamond tiara. It is stunning! If you google "Charlene arpels" it will come right up.
Here is the link to the Van Cleef and Arpel's video about the Ocean Tiara.

Here's a link to it from the side. Seen this way, I find it completely and utterly STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS.
Sorry...here's the link....

Interestingly, the website describes this headpiece as an "aigrette". Dictionary.com defines an aigrette as
"1. a plume or tuft of feathers, especially the back plume of any of various herons, arranged as a head ornament.
2. a jeweled ornament depicting or suggesting this, usually worn in the hair or on a hat. "
Aha, scarebaby! just as I thought. . .she IS wearing it backwards.
It seems she only wanted to look stunning from behind on her wedding day
(jewel-wise, anyways).
That is the best view of it I've seen. I would really love to see it worn on the front of her head, as I think the designer meant it to be worn. I mean it is, as you say STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!
It's a lovely tiara, and I've seen other views of it where it really shines. I'd like to see it on someone with dark hair though. Diamonds tend to get lost on blonds.
I read that this is water themed as well. I think it's being a bit played out. I do like it but I agree with everyone who said it would work better on darker hair.
The other tiara ('Ocean') really is astonishingly beautiful! I really hope we'll see it on her very soon.
I'm not a fan of this one though. As most of you have already said, it sort of disappears into her hair. I missed it at first glance.
This tiara looks like Charlene will be directing air traffic over Monaco...not a fan!
Ah, but the "Ocean" tiara? I can't *WAIT* to see her wear this one...it's GORGEOUS.
I thought she was wearing a headband until the tiara was pointed out. I like the link to the tiara but as others have said it rather gets lost in her blonde hair. Shame. Looking forward to seeing her wear the other tiara though.
J'adore! I love this modern piece and it totally makes up for a classical tiara. If only her hair was darker it would be perfect.
