Official Gala Dinner: HM The Queen of Sweden

It's Tiara Alert time in Sweden tonight, hatters!  Sil's brought out the Connaught Diamond Tiara for the occasion -- more on its Edwardian history here.  I'm not sure I love the way it's perched on her head so flatly here, though.  To me, this tiara calls for integration into an up-do ... maybe I was just spoiled after seeing Madeleine sport it last summer?

    Definitely needs an up-do. I don't hate this tiara, but I can't help but think that it looks a little bit sparse. Perhaps if it were angled a bit better, but who knows?
    Also, C-G, would it be possible to crack a smile? Ever?

    Am quite smitten with this tiara but it needs to be slightly angled and with an updo for it to truly shine in all is magnificent glory.

    Is it me, or does it look slightly skew-whiff. Maybe it's just the angle of her head. Normally I wouldn't go for the Nine-prong Spongebob sea-monster tiara, but it would look very apt with this dress.

    It's deffo bit wonky. I reckon Silv had a schnapps before she left the palace. And yes, it requires an up do this one - a lovely tiara, but perhaps it's a bit youthful for our very elegantly ageing Queen...?

    Love the dress, not crazy about the delicacy of this tiara that seems more suitable for a younger princess. Silvia's capable of carrying the big guns on her head. And, yes, the tiara's definitely listing to the side. Perhaps CG disapproves of the pre-dinner aperitif that Sil may have partaken of?

    I love this tiara! Its one of my favorites. At first I thought this tiara suits Madeleine better. But looking at the picture from the first link, the Queen looks great with it too. Perhaps with this tiara an up-do is required.

    For me, only an up-do would improve this. I love the dress - the colour, the matching shoes.

    I do agree with you all; it's a wonderful tiara, but Silvia should stick to the larger pieces - that she wears so well - and leave this to her daughters and sisters in-law!

    looking at the pictures of Madeleine it struck me; wouldn't it be great if the diamond drops were interchangeable with pearl drops? that would make the tiara look more "mature"...
