Danish Ruby Jubilee - Reception at Parliament: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark

Our other royal hatter-in-residence at today's Jubilee event is the always-lovely CP Mary, in a hat we last saw on the blog during Margrethe's 70th birthday celebrations in 2010.  (In fact, I believe we've got a repeat of the entire outfit, even down to the jewelry.)  But I don't mind -- out of all of Mary's tall-crown hats, I think this one might be my favorite.

No Marie at these events, sadly -- but she gets a pass, because she's about to give Daisy the best Jubilee gift of all, an eighth grandchild!  I've got my fingers crossed for another little Danish princess...

    GAAAAAKKKK ----- OMG! The Katie Cambridge 'Sound of Music' quasi Fedora trend is starting to to mutate and spread throughtout the other royal houses of europe!
    It must be stopped! (albeit CP Mary wears it with definite style and a certain insousance)
    But imagine how awful and bastardized the trend will become by the time it filters down to the Spanish Infantas and others who shall remain nameless!

    Good catch Ella, to remember it appeared back in 2010. Ongoing proof that if you keep something long enough it comes back in style. This one took less than 2 years. It looks smashing! A definite trend-setter - IMHO

    It can't be the Katie influence that has tempted Mary to wear this Philip Treacy creation. Here, she wears the hat in 2007 http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc46/royalty_123/IPA-20071030-0103-099THMBG1.jpg - and I have seen pictures of her from 2004 with the same hat (one of her first engagements on her own, opening a motorway, and pairing this hat with a gorgeous Marni coat).

    BCgirl....I did jump to conclusions...I saw the hat shape, the color and the bow -- saw the "CAMBRIDGE clone" flashing lights in my mind....and wrote before I thought it through.

    I AM expecting to see the influence of Kate's little fedora-ettes begin to appear -- but in this instance it was just an unrelated coincidence, and I didnt read Ella's comment closely enough before my fingers began feverishly typing! (MrFitzroy's apologies to our dear Ella)

    As noted above though, CP Mary wears it very well and looks fabulous!

    I love the color hat, but am on the fence about the height and shape. Too Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter for me, I guess.

    If anyone started this hattery trend, it was the Countess of Wessex. It's nice, but not my favorite (probably because I'm such a sucker for big brims).

    I really did not like this style when i first saw it but wow Mary really makes it stylish! Love it!
