State Visit to Oman - Al Alam Palace: HRH Princess Máxima of The Netherlands

The back-of-the-head hat rides again!  We last saw this little gem during the Oranges' trip to New York in 2009.  This time, though, it's sort of more ... side-of-the-middle-of-the-head.  Hm.

Oh, let's face it: I'm never going to understand this hat.  I hope next time she wears it over her forehead or as a necklace or something even crazier!

I could be so down with this hat if it knew what it wanted to be? A hat? A fascinator? Nope... it's a hatinator.

Wear it like your demi-turban for Will and Kate's connubials and we'll talk.

I thought it was a pair of red earmuffs...perhaps covering some fancy headphones. That way when she's listening to blah blah blah from these boring people, she can have her tunes going.

On a more serious note, it is a crescent shape for a country that is Islamic. Wonder if that is intentional?

I was prepared to love this . . . . until I saw the back view. I am appalled!

I think perhaps the hat slipped a bit during Max's nap before heading to the palace...and nobody readjusted it.

The larger question is why has the House of Orange, apparently, not replaced the vacant position of "Royal Wardrobe Traffic Director".....first the black and white doppleganger ensembles -- and now this not quite matching, sort of clashing, Max/Cake festival of tangerine.

My heavens, what are we to see next? The identical formals worn by Lucy and Ethel in the talent show episode?

I just like the color, but I give everything else a minus except for those huge pearl earrings.

I love her outfit and hair, but the headpiece is not amusing me as much as it did in NYC. Too bad because I think it has potential . . .

My mother has 'stacks of hats' like this from the 1950s. Worn all over the head, some in good spots, some not so good lol.
