Hattery Event: Royal Ascot 2012, Day 4

Hold on to your hats, everybody -- it's time for more Hat Christmas delights!

Well, for a few more Hat Christmas delights, anyway -- this is the time of the season when the festivities begin to wind down, as per usual.  But we've got two hats today -- and one of them, hint-hint, is MAAAAHHHHVELOUS!

... not this one.  I mean, it's okay.  But it's ASCOT!  This is a slightly wonky hat that HM could wear anywhere!  Eh.

No, no, I'm talking about this one!

I SWEAR, everybody, there is indeed a hat beneath Zsa-Zsa's magnificent barnet.  Hang on, MC, do you think you might turn to the side a little?

Ah, much better!  Now the giant pillbox can be seen in all its stuck-on-the-back-of-the-head glory.  Part of me really, really loves that Princess Mike always goes big or goes "Jackie O. Halloween costume" with her hattery.  That's COMMITMENT.  (Also -- tsar-ly played as usual today, Prince Mike!)

Hat Christmas wraps up tomorrow, chickadees!  See you all for the grand finale!  (Or, let's be honest, maybe just the finale -- usually HM is the lone hatter standing by Ascot Day 5!)

ETA: WHY HAYA WHY

Blergh.  (Thanks to @Royal_Fashions for the photo!  But no thanks to Haya for the hat, seriously.  From the highest of highs...)

Ella, your posts this week have been just Fabulous, and so nice to see you back in your stride! Thank you for the time you spend indulging us.

The purple heather is a lovely tone on HM...and as much as is oft commented that so many of her hats seem over embellished...
when one views the austere alternative, the missing arrow pointed feathers and overly attenuated bows seem like dear, if eccentric, friends you haven't had a note from in a while. ....

Given that Cruella Kent was representing the WHOLE of the minor royals today....there was room for improvement...
Mr Fitzroy also loves the giant pillbox...but why not add a couple of giant roses or some sort of flourish at the back bottom edge. (perhaps HM minions put the word out that it was to be a stoic hat day?)
Unfortunately, her whole ensemble reads to Mr Fitzroy as if she is auditioning to be Karl Lagerfeld's private duty nurse. Oh dear.

Sheesh, what a boring day at Ascot!

HM always looks wonderful in purple (I knew she would show up in the color, but my bet was on Ladies Day). But I agree Ella, this is Ascot, and this hat is so (pardon the expression Your Majesty), common.

Marie-Christine, you have worn so many wonderful, gigantic chapeaux over the years. Surely there are a few in hatboxes just waiting to be seen again (Like this one: http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/74665265.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF193B232F6F01705438320AA3C78667444A7), unlike this pillbox, which could hardly be seen at all. And @MrFitzroy: Karl Lagerfeld's private duty nurse? Serious lol!

Also, I love how Prince Michael is always channeling his inner George V.

Haya, oh my. That hat belongs on a Yorkie or Zara, not you. Please bring back those fantastic, classic hats from the past couple Ascots. Also, that top looks more like a nurse's uniform than proper daywear; just saying.

You know I like HM's hat... it's a close relative of her yellow outfit from W and K's wedding... I love the shape, the colour, and the unusual tucking.

I thought PMOK had gone rogue sans hat yesterday, phew when i realised it was under there all along!!

Day 4 wasn't lacking as many royals as we thought: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/prince-andrew-duke-of-york-george-windsor-the-earl-of-st-news-photo/146697979

1,500 photos of Lara Stone, and yet this one takes forever to show up.

Haya in another "do nothing for her" shaped frock. She gets it so right...or NOT.

That really looks like Chelsy's nose under all that windswept hair in the lead-in pic. Could it be?

The Queen had a winner in the Queen's Vase Race-did you see pics of Prince Philip presenting her with the trophy? too too adorable.

    Speaking of Sir Topham Hatt

We need a special appendix for Lady Elizabeth's hats, Jake. Thank god she is keeping the "Mad' in "Mad Hattery."

  8. MrFitzroyOBE says on :

Oh My....Take a look at the Key Words listed under that photo of the Duke of York in cece18's link....
Did they really need to start the list with "Fat" and include "Double Chin"? There must be some anti-yorkies afoot at Getty Images.
