Here’s our first look at the newest member of the British royal family, The Lady Frederick Windsor, née Miss Sophie Winkleman! She’s worn a small, delicate tiara with her wedding dress — I’m not sure if it’s a family heirloom or not, because it doesn’t look familiar on first glance.
The bride looks beautiful, but I’m quite surprised that she wore her hair down with her veil and tiara. What did all of the rest of you think?

The next time you see this soon-to-be royal lady on this blog, she’ll be wearing a veil and tiara — how exciting!
I have to say, Sophie is going to give the Windsor women an incredible run for their money in the “most glamorous” race when she marries Lord Frederick Windsor this coming Saturday. Here, at the wedding of William Astor and Lohralee Stutz in Oxfordshire, she looks absolutely smashing in her black beret. And I say that despite the fact that:
1.) She’s wearing a black hat to a wedding — see Kate Middleton’s veiled mess at Peter Phillips’s wedding for why this is generally a bad idea — and
2.) I declared an embargo on royal ladies wearing black berets way back in June when one too many showed up at Trooping the Colour. Forget it — I’m lifting it a month early. It’s my blog, I’ll rescind hattery embargoes if I want to.
So, I realize that I’m totally contradicting myself by loving this, but I can’t help it. Theoretically, I should hate this hat, but I think it’s just wonderful. Thumbs up!
Can’t wait to see your wedding pictures this coming weekend, Sophie!

Hooray! A new (almost) royal to add to our collection! (I get so excited when I get to add a new category for another lovely royal lady…)
This is Sophie Winkleman, a Cambridge-educated actress who also happens to be the fiancée of Lord Frederick Windsor, son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. She’ll become Lady Frederick Windsor when the two tie the knot at Hampton Court in September (wedding hat extravaganza! Mark your calendars!).
Here she’s taking in a spot of tennis with Freddie at Wimbledon. What better place to wear a big giant hat than a British sporting event in the summertime? I like this one, in its pretty neutral color, with (from what I can see) a complementary green — perhaps floral? — embellishment on the brim.
Overall, an excellent first entry into the hattery stakes, Sophie! Can’t wait to see your wedding tiara!
