We’ve got hattery from our favorite expectant mother-of-twins, ladies and gents!

… unfortunately, she’s gotten a bit overzealous with the height of this topper, I think. Mare’s worn chapeaux similar to this one before, and I haven’t disliked them, but something about this one just isn’t doing it for me.

Mary even looks good at the beach, wading in the water and trying to snap family photos of her kids — life is so unfair! I loooove this beach hat, though — I wish I’d had one just like it during my recent holiday!

HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden and Mr. Daniel Westling
June 19, 2010
Well, kids, yesterday we partied hardy in the wedding live posts, and today we get to have a tiara fiesta! I’ve compiled all of the tiara entries for the royal guests at Crown Princess Victoria’s wedding to Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel) in this entry.
The wedding, of course, took place in Stockholm yesterday. The couple has been together since 2002, when Daniel became Victoria’s personal trainer. Love blossomed, and on their wedding day, Daniel became royal. During their balcony appearance, Victoria thanked the people of Sweden for giving her a prince.
And now, we’ll all just have to wait to see how long it takes before the pitter-patter of little royal feet are heard in Haga Palace!

Heeeeyyyy, everybody, Mary and Fred are in the hooooooouuuuuuuse! And in my favorite of her tiaras, too! It’s a nice gesture that she wore Queen Ingrid’s Ruby Parure Tiara, since Queen Ingrid was born Princess Ingrid of Sweden (and was King Carl Gustaf’s aunt!).
Fred’s done pretty well in the hat department today, too — he looks like he could have hopped right on that royal barge and fitted right in!
Mary’s whole outfit was one of my favorites on the day — maybe in a three-way tie with Tatiana and (of course) the bride for best of all! Here’s a better look at the gown…

For a service celebrating the refurbishment of a cathedral, Crown Princess Mary brought out her fancy interchangeable flower hat today – the one of flying-Vietnam-incident infamy – with its beige-colored posy. As (almost) always, a big meh to the beige — but a big fat drool over this coat. Oh, my God, I need this in my closet yesterday! Gorgeous! If only she’d had a coral-colored flower to swap in and match!

HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark and Miss Mary Donaldson
May 14, 2004
Our last major tiara wedding before Crown Princess Vic’s big day was the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Tasmanian-born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson. The two met during the Sydney Olympics in 2000, fell in love, and got hitched four years later.
Frederik and his Aussie bride have two children: Prince Christian (who will one day be king) and Princess Isabella, the first Danish princess born in a generation. Mary has transformed from an everyday girl to a glamorous crown princess, and this wedding was definitely high on the glamour factor as well: we’ve got more than thirty tiaras on parade here, many of which are brand-new to the blog. A good trial run for Victoria’s wedding, no doubt! Enjoy!

And now, ladies and gents, it’s time for the second installment in Crown Princess Mary’s instructional series on “Why Being a Crown Princess Is Not Easy”…
![Washington Visit - Arlington National Cemetery: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark (05 Jun 2010) [PHOTO: YURI GRIPAS/AFP/Getty Images]](http://madhattery.royalroundup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2010-0505-denmark-mary.jpg)
At first, things are going great on your visit to Arlington National Cemetery. You’re wearing a pretty, temperature-appropriate summer dress. You’ve got a chic hat on that looks to be a close cousin of one of your best-ever hat moments: the bright blue structure beret from the state visit to Vietnam. Your crown prince is doing his best Horatio Caine impression, but he’s behind you, so you can’t even see it and be embarrassed!
But then…
![Washington Visit - Arlington National Cemetery: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark (05 Jun 2010) [PHOTO: YURI GRIPAS/AFP/Getty Images]](http://madhattery.royalroundup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2010-0505-denmark-mary3.jpg)
Your super-fancy stiletto gets caught between two pavers, and it comes right off your foot! And you can’t just hobble along and pretend like your shoe didn’t fall off, so you have to bend over in a dress and pick it up! All while the world’s photographers are snapping away!
And, even worse:
![Washington Visit - Arlington National Cemetery: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark (05 Jun 2010) [PHOTO: YURI GRIPAS/AFP/Getty Images]](http://madhattery.royalroundup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2010-0505-denmark-mary4.jpg)
Your crown prince has gone on ahead without you, and didn’t even see the whole shoe business, so you have to be saved by some mysterious stranger! Oh, the humanity!

But you recover, like the future Queen of Denmark you are, slapping on a pair of Jackie O shades so elegant that everyone who sees them forgets about the shoe incident right away. Lord. Being a crown princess sometimes really isn’t easy!

Mary and Fred are visiting the US this weekend, touring various Washington locales and, of course, promoting Danish culture. Here the Danes are attending the opening of an exhibition of costumes and drawings from the film The Wild Swans, all designed by none other than the Queen of Denmark herself!
It’s super appropriate, then, that Mary chose to wear a daisy-shaped brooch in her hair for the occasion. And, as lovely reader Kirsten said when she sent in this picture, this is acceptable back-of-the-head ornamentation!
(I keep finding myself staring at this braid, too — how in the world is the bottom of that thing kept together???)

It’s wedding tiara night, apparently — Marie wore hers (not that she has much of a choice!), so Mary’s done the same. Still not a fan … but I have to say that I’m a little more concerned this time about the crocheted-doily dress and strange candy-diamond belt Mary seems to have on. Oh, well — for as many formal fashion “hits” as Mary has, there are bound to be some “misses” along the way!

I just don’t know about this one, you guys … I’m really liking the way Mary’s wearing her hair (and I need that white coat in my wardrobe, like, yesterday), but the “hat” itself…

Something about this is just too “Yorkie sisters at Ascot,” except this one’s almost more of an embellished bow even than a fascinator.
I think something with a bit more weight would have been nice. What do all of you think?
