Was almost certain that this three-layered masterpiece was a repeat, but a quick search of the archives has me coming up empty-handed. Really, though — Bea’s hats are all basically similar anyway — she certainly has a hat type — so it doesn’t really matter anyway! Vive le Cake Hat!

Pretty run-of-the-mill hattery from Cake today, but it does look like we’ve got at least three layers to work with! Stick in some birthday candles, and we’d be in business!

HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden and Mr. Daniel Westling
June 19, 2010
Well, kids, yesterday we partied hardy in the wedding live posts, and today we get to have a tiara fiesta! I’ve compiled all of the tiara entries for the royal guests at Crown Princess Victoria’s wedding to Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel) in this entry.
The wedding, of course, took place in Stockholm yesterday. The couple has been together since 2002, when Daniel became Victoria’s personal trainer. Love blossomed, and on their wedding day, Daniel became royal. During their balcony appearance, Victoria thanked the people of Sweden for giving her a prince.
And now, we’ll all just have to wait to see how long it takes before the pitter-patter of little royal feet are heard in Haga Palace!

At first, I thought that Queen Bea was strutting her stuff at her goddaughter’s wedding in a setting of the Ruby Peacock Parure Tiara, in a slightly different way to wear the tiara than she chose for Margrethe’s big birthday in April, but lovely reader Jo pointed out that it’s actually the Mellerio Ruby Tiara, a new one for us on the blog. Thanks, Jo!
I really like this one for Cake — she needs substance in a tiara, and this one’s got it! The Mellerio, according to the great site Jo linked in the comments, was made by the French jeweler for Queen Emma in 1889, and was originally supposed to be set with sapphires. I’d love to see this one with blue stones again! (If anyone can make that happen, it’s the innovative Dutch royals — they’re so clever with their tiara collection!)
Speaking of substantial: click below for a full-length photo of the dress:

HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark and Miss Mary Donaldson
May 14, 2004
Our last major tiara wedding before Crown Princess Vic’s big day was the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Tasmanian-born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson. The two met during the Sydney Olympics in 2000, fell in love, and got hitched four years later.
Frederik and his Aussie bride have two children: Prince Christian (who will one day be king) and Princess Isabella, the first Danish princess born in a generation. Mary has transformed from an everyday girl to a glamorous crown princess, and this wedding was definitely high on the glamour factor as well: we’ve got more than thirty tiaras on parade here, many of which are brand-new to the blog. A good trial run for Victoria’s wedding, no doubt! Enjoy!

I agree completely with the lovely reader, Long, who sent this photo in: definitely chocolate-flavored.

Looks like we’ve maybe got some sort of double layer or filling here? Actually, it’s really not all that cake-y — more like Bea could use it for some archery practice rather than for a snack!

We’re on hat number three (well, four if you count the tiara) for the Norwegian state visit, and today we’ve got a lavender hat that looks to have a sunken crown. See how much sunlight comes through this thing? I hope Bea put on extra sunblock, because I don’t think this topper’s going to block very many UV rays!

What a hat-rich day in Norway … two hats each from Beatrix and Sonja, and now a whole mess of Tiara Alerts!
This little gem is the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara, one of the Dutch tiaras with a slightly uncertain provenance. The tiara was either made for Queen Sophie (born a princess of Württemberg) in the 1830s and then reworked for Queen Wilhelmina in 1897, or made new in 1897 from a collection of pearls owned by the family. Like most of the Dutch tiaras, this one can be worn a few different ways; it has a set of drop pearls that can be attached to the top.
No matter when this one was made, it’s a stunner, and it’s one of the few tiaras around that can stand up to Beatrix’s barnet. In fact, Beatrix liked this tiara so much that she chose it for her wedding to the late Prince Claus in 1966.
