The Lord Frederick Windsor's Wedding: The Lady Rose Gilman (12 Sep 2009)

Yay — a surprise appearance from one of my favorite royal women, Lady Rose Gilman!  Here she is arriving at Freddie and Sophie’s wedding reception with her hunky husband George.  The two of them recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.  Congrats!

I love this shade of blue on Lady Rose, and though she wears black fascinators all the time, this one seems like it may have some patterned feathers in it for a little textural interest.  I like that — and I quite like her hair all curled like this, too!

(Honestly, though, I’m so happy to finally see another royal in a hat at this wedding that she probably could have borrowed the Imperial State Crown for the occasion and I’d think it was perfectly appropriate.) :)

Trooping the Colour: The Lady Rose Gilman (13 Jun 2009)

Look past the comedy team of Wales & Wales on the right (Princess Anne was obviously offended by the punch line to their joke) and draw your attention to the pretty lady on the left: Lady Rose Gilman, who is making her first balcony appearance since her wedding to George Gilman last July.  Mazel tov, Lady Rose!

But it looks as if Lady Rose is moving into married-Gloucester-girl territory here, following in her sister-in-law’s footsteps by wearing a fascinator that’s not really much more than a headband with some stuff glued to it.  But hey, if we’re talking fascinators and Trooping the Colour here, at least it’s not this bad.  All in all, I’ll call it mediocre — not terrible, but not one for the hattery history books.

It’s just good manners to save the bride and the star of the show for last, isn’t it?

Also, Tiara Alert!

Lady Rose looks beautiful, her new husband is a hottie, and she’s got some major royal bling on top of her head. The tiara is the Gloucester Leafage Tiara, given to Princess Alice by her husband, the Duke of Gloucester (the current Duke’s father). Fabulous!
