Opening of Parliament: HRH The Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg
Ah, the plight of being the younger sister of the monarch. Poor Princess Benedikte always shows up and looks great at royal events, but she’s ignored by photographers in favor of her glamorous nieces-in-law. Ergo, we only get pictures of her like this one: out of focus, stuck behind her nephew, with half of her face obscured. Sigh.
But at least we can see her hat! It’s simple, it’s inoffensive … it’s kind of boring. Sigh. If ever there were a hat that needed a bit of silly embellishment, I think it might be this one.
(On a side note, I think maybe she and Mary got together and decided they were going to do an opposite day — black dress, gray hat versus gray dress, black hat. The royal family that coordinates their outfits together, stays together, I suppose.)
