National Day: HRH The Princess of Hanover, Hereditary Princess of Monaco

National Day: HRH The Princess of Hanover, Hereditary Princess of Monaco (19 Nov 2009)

It’s National Day in the little principality of Monaco, and we’ve got a brand-new princess to add to the blog!  Let’s give a hearty welcome to the lovely Princess Caroline, the heir to the Monegasque throne and the daughter of one of the most famous royals in history, Princess Grace.

Caroline is regal and elegant, and the headpiece she chose to wear to the thanksgiving mass on National Day was no different:

I think it’s quite lovely — simple and classic, but also sort of unusual and mod at the same time.  And of course I have to give her props, because she was the only royal lady in Monaco who wore a hat to the festivities.  Sister Stephánie chose a headband instead, and Caroline’s pretty daughter, Charlotte Casiraghi, chose nothing to adorn her ponytail:

At least Char seems to be giving her mother’s choice of headwear a good once-over.  We can only hope that she takes a cue and joins in on the hattery fun next time!

I love how Caroline is going for the 1940′s glam look here. It’s great to see Monaco finally on this blog.

I think this is head-to-toe Chanel. Coatdress, handbag, shoes, maybe even the headpiece.

She’s just so damn chic. It almost becomes clinic doesn’t it. I personally prefer a bit of Beatrix’s madness or Camilla’s unmatchiness. Perverse isn’t it?

    Oops I meant clinical!

This is the best Chanel outfit she’s worn in a while. I’m really loving this.

Very elegant – definitely a case of less is more when it comes to non-hat headwear! They’re so beautiful, the Monegasque princesses, yet I always feel there’s a air of sadness about them. Certainly prove that all the privileges of royalty can’t prevent tragedies from occuring – they’ve had more than their fair share.

Stephanie seems to have had “the girls” done.
