Christiansborg Gala: HM The Queen of Denmark

Hey, everybody, it’s a Tiara Alert from Queen Margrethe, and it’s a real stunner!  This is the unique Floral Aigrette Tiara, which apparently came to the Danish royals in the ’60s when it was either bequeathed to or purchased by Margrethe’s mother, Queen Ingrid, from an unknown Danish-American.

One of the coolest things about this tiara is how flexible it is; it can be worn in a number of different ways, and pieces can also be detached and worn separately as brooches.  I love how it almost encircles her head, draping back down over her hair.  No wonder it’s also sometimes called the Floral Wreath Tiara!

I love her, but she just doesn’t seem to ever get it right in the hair department. The tiara helps, but . . .

I too love how HM is wearing this beautiful tiara. It’s so interesting – I’d love to see how else it could be worn.

Are there any photos of the back of her head/hair-do? That would be interesting to see.

Ditto to all that. So versatile and a real change. But yep… The hair could do with a bit more oomph.

That is a lovely tiara. I also like the turqouise pieces she’s wearing–quite unusual, to combine turquoise and diamonds, but I like it.

Awwwwww, stop with the hair stuff! There is nothing wrong with her hair!!! She’s worn it that way all her life. I have great admiration for people who don’t manipulate their tresses.
