Well, kids, it looks like the Christmas season is officially over: HM’s heading back to London!
These pictures of Liz on the train platform still crack me up a little bit, I’ll admit. It’s just so incongruous … Elizabeth II, with her jeweled brooch, her royal blue outfit, and her Hermès scarf, in a train station beside one of those red-handled wheely carts.
But I love it … and I also love that she pulled out a different fancy Hermès headscarf to wear on the journey home than she did on the way to Sandringham. Now that’s a lady with a massive headwear collection!
Looking lovely again as usual in the blue coat and Hermes headscarf. Even with a headscarf she looks every inch a Queen. If any of us common folk boarded the train wearing a similar outfit, we’d probably get mugged for our clothes and jewelery.
I wish my Christmas break went on that long… Still she looks well rested and ready to get loads new hats out for us!
This is why I love HM. She’s so unashamedly a lady of the 1950′s. Instant glamour, even in a headscarf. We really don’t see enough of this elegance anymore, and it’s such a shame.
Something hilarious is clearly happening out of shot… maybe she’s seen a funny hat!!
You’re right of course Sir Tom, and what makes this even better is that this is HM in ‘dresing down’ mode to show us even she can relax. Love it.
I think she looks allot like Princess Beatrice in this picture. I noticed it when it popped up next to Bea’s fabulous shot on the home page.
Nobody rocks the granny babushka like Her Majesty–she almost makes it look hip. And I adore that blue coat.
Twisted Sister: LOL!
