About Mad Hattery!

Mad Hattery! was originally a series of posts on my very first royal blog, The Royal Roundup, beginning with Peter Phillips's wedding in May 2008 and continuing with Royal Ascot last year.  The true inspiration was, of course, Princess Beatrice's big fat butterfly fascinator.  How can you get any better than that?

I quickly decided that Mad Hattery! needed to be a blog all its own, so I shifted it over to its first solo location.  After the first year, I moved it here to its permanent home, so that the hattery madness could continue unfettered.  In the summer of 2009, I expanded the focus of the blog to occasionally include royals from around the world as well as the royal women of the Windsor family.

My goal here is always to entertain.  This is primarily a blog about silliness -- I have a healthy respect for the British royals and royals around the world, and I do not intend to belittle.  It's about frivilous fashion and nothing more than that, really.

So if you enjoy royal watching, looking at photos of sometimes-ridiculous hats, and fun, I'd say this is the blog for you! :)
