I had messages from several of you wondering if Mary's tiara at this event was new -- it's actually the second outing for the pearl setting of her Wedding Tiara.  (Here's the previous time it was worn with pearls; it's positioned much better on her head this time.)

I do like the way that the pearls are picking up on the golden color of her jacket this time around, and I'm really pleased that she's continuing to be inventive with her tiaras ... but I still don't like it.  I think they're pretty much going to have to dismantle this one to gain my approval.  (Because they really care about that, LOL!)

Rounding out tonight's gala coverage with the woman of the hour in the Pearl Poiré Tiara, one of her favorites.  Really you can't go wrong with this one.

Also: have you all seen that Daisy is indeed getting a new jubilee tiara?  It's not rubies (sad!), but a new diadem made from a golden floral ornament given to her by the people of Greenland.  (You can see a photo here at RJWMB.)  Can't wait to see it!

Rubies for the Ruby Jubilee from Mary tonight -- this is, of course, the Ruby Parure Tiara that Queen Ingrid left to Crown Prince Frederik.  Love seeing the whole set together, and love this hairstyle with the tiara.

So this raises a question -- why was this the only ruby tiara worn to the gala banquet this evening?  It's true that Queen Margrethe doesn't have a ruby tiara (this is the only major one in the Danish collection, I believe -- hey, wouldn't this have been a great occasion for Daisy to get a new ruby piece?).  But no Edward VII Ruby on Silvia?  No Ruby Olive Wreath on Anne-Marie?  Surely if there's an occasion to bust out the rubies, a Ruby Jubilee is it!

Start your engines, hatters, it's the second Tiara Alert event of the weekend!  This is the second blog outing for Princess Elisabeth in her tiara -- Princess Thyra's Sapphire Tiara.  It's a bit hard to see in this photo, but this tiara is really growing on  me, I have to say.  I sort of think this is what CP Mary's wedding tiara aspires to be...

It's a mini-Saturn hat for Daisy's big day -- and in royal purple, so no one will be confused about who the anniversary girl is.  On anyone else, I'd be saying some truly terrible things about this, I think, but since it's the Great Dane herself -- eh, it's really not that bad!

Another tall hat for Mary -- I tend to like these sometimes, but this one's just a bit too tall and too blue for me.  Thoughts?

Another appearance from one of our newer hatters -- this is Princess Elisabeth, cousin to Queen Margrethe, attending a service of thanksgiving for the Queen at Christiansborg Castle.  It's a simple hattery choice, but I think it's a flattering one.

Surely the ruby parure is on reserve for tomorrow night -- but I really, really wish we'd seen Mary in the Midnight Tiara with this gown rather than in her wedding tiara.  I know my feelings on this piece are well-documented, but really, it's just not a tiara for a crown princess, is it?
