And now, a message from Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat:

What's up, everybody?  BIG SISTER IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, you guys, this has been, like, the best day ever.  SO MANY totally awesome things happened to me today!

First, Mom -- who has been SUPER awesome lately, because she's like totally preoccupied with the babies ... score! -- let me wear GOLD SHOES and a pink ribbon to the church.  Pssshhh, look at Christian, who couldn't even bother to wear a TIE.  Hello?  Like, make an effort, future monarch!  (Reason #1324353 that I should be queen...)

And then, because I was feeling awesome, and because I'm the BEST big sister around, I taught my baby sister how to read.  (Urgh, inside info: Mom totally wouldn't tell me what their names were until today, even though I NEEDED to know -- hello, Big Sister over here!  Please, like who was I even going to tell???)

I was even going to help baptize Prince Vince, but Mom was totally harsh and wouldn't even let me!  (Seriously, you guys: PRINCE VINCE.  That's my brother's name.  LOL!  My parents are, like, totally insane.)

By the time the whole thing was over, I was, like, totally overwhelmed and gratified that so many people wanted to take pictures of me, the BEST BIG SISTER IN THE WORLD.

So, yeah, today was pretty cool.  Like, seriously, who gets to have TWO BABIES to be a big sister to at the SAME TIME?  I have sooooooo much awesome stuff to show them when Mom's not looking.  Until next time, PEACE OUT, HATTERS!

Gråsten Slot: HRH Princess Isabella of Denmark

And now, a message from Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat:

What's up, you guys!?!  It's been way too long!  I mean, I've been TRYING to get Mom to put me in way more cute hats so we could hang out more often, but you know moms.  SIGH.

At least she let me wear another SUPER cute hair bow headband for one of my really important appearances in front of the paps.  Being a princess is a super demanding job, right?

I mean, when you're, like, one of the only princesses in the whole COUNTRY, they always put you in the front row!  Like, duh!  I'm WAY cuter than Christian, so it totally makes sense.  If only I had been able to, like, squeeze in a manicure into my DEMANDING schedule of princess duties!

For serious, the nail situation was totally dire.  (Christian told me that Princess Amalia told him that she gets manicures ALL THE TIME, especially for that big wedding that I WAS NOT INVITED TO.  Yeah, whatever, I noticed.  See if you get to come to my awesome wedding, Swedish people.  Anyway, if having pretty painted nails is good enough for, like, an Orange princess, it's totally good enough for me!)

But I, like, totally digress.

So, anyway, as you can see, Mary and I are getting along much better these days, even after her little buzz-kill freakout in April.  All was totally forgiven after she promised me BABY BROTHERS OR SISTERS!  Not one -- TWO!  A puppy would have been, like, totally awesome, but now I get to have real life baby dolls!  YES!  So, yeah, mom and I are cool again.

For now, anyway, I guess -- she probably just didn't see me when Christian DARED me to lick the window and the stupid PAPARAZZI caught me.

SO UNCOOL, CHRISTIAN.  Can't a PRINCESS even lick a window in private these days?  Totally HARSH, camera dudes.  (Also, P.S., please don't tell my mom ... at least not until after I get to dare the new babies to do it, too.  HOORAY!)

[Isabella would like me to thank lovely reader Eliza for sending me info about this event!] :)

Isabella's Third Birthday: HRH Princess Isabella

Posted on April 21st, 2010 by Ella  |  5 Comments »

The only Danish royal granddaughter -- and one of our candid Mad Hattery special royal correspondents -- celebrates a big birthday today: Princess Isabella is turning three!  Congratulations, Your Royal Highness!  You're officially a big girl now!  (But you should probably still not stand on the balcony railing.)

Isabella's parents, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, released this adorable photo to mark her big day, complete with a great hattery moment.  Love the knitted hat adorned by a bow!  This little girl really is one of our most promising royal hatters-to-be! :)

(A whole bunch of great photos from all of Isabella's three years, including some early hattery moments are up at Danish Royal Watchers -- check it out!)

(Also, heavy on the parentheses here, but: a royal trivia fact!  Princess Isabella shares a birthday with another very important royal gal: HM The Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II!  But unlike Lilibet, Isabella only has one birthday to celebrate.  Elizabeth's birthday parade will be in June on her "official" birthday.  Isabella should really work on getting one of those, too!)

Thanks to lovely reader Lisa for sending in the photo!

Birthday Balcony Appearance: HRH Princess Isabella

And now, a message from Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat:

Oh, my God, you guys, you will NOT believe what went down out on the balcony today.  I mean, like, SERIOUSLY, it was sooooo out of control!

The parentals totally let Grandpa carry me out to see, like, the entire Danish population all just chilling out, waiting to say happy birthday to Grandma.  Well, like, duh,of course they would!  She is, like, the monarch of the entire COUNTRY, plus some other places, like that one Greenland island thing which isn't even really green, it's like all ICE!

So, like, anyway, while we were just hanging out, waving at all the people and stuff, I saw an AWESOME puppy out in the crowd.  And, hello, Ziggy totally wouldn't mind having a brother or a sister!  I mean, I'm a princess, for the love of Pete.  If I want a puppy, I should GET a puppy.  I hear even those Obama girls in the US got a dog, and their dad only gets to live in the big white castle for, like, one or two terms!  I mean, really, I get my castle for, like FOREVER.

So, Grandpa was totally cool with letting me go see the puppy, and he even held me up really really high for a better look!  (Grandpa is THE BEST.)  It was no big deal or anything, but for some reason, people are getting all, like, bent out of shape about it.  Ugh, whatever.  Just because Grandpa wears, like, the weirdest pajamas in the entire universe doesn't mean he's a bad guy.

(So, P.S.,  later, Christian was all, "ISABELLA!  What the H happened on the balcony!  Felix said Grandpa totally pulled a Michael Jackson!"  Like I even know what that means.  Is he, like, one of the footmen or something?  Or one of those billions of royal people who just, like, SHOWED UP this week and used up all the hot water?)

And then, PREDICTABLY, Mom was super harsh and TOTALLY RUINED EVERYTHING.  Ugh.  Whatever!  Like, a princess can't even have a little fun during a totally snoozer balcony appearance?  This is a royal palace in Denmark, not some REGULAR house in AUSTRALIA.  Get with the program, Mary!   I mean, it's not like I even get to be queen one day ... nooooo, CHRISTIAN has to get to be in charge, even though he's totally SNOOZE-WORTHY.  So, like, can't I have some fun now???  Geez!

And so, the rest of the balcony appearance was, like, so BORING.  All anyone did was sing happy birthday and wave, except not me, because Mom wouldn't even let go of my HAND, even when I got three of my fingers free, and, WORST OF ALL, I couldn't even see the puppy anymore!  Gross.  How many years until I'm, like, eighteen?

(Oh, but, you guys, there was like, one consolation in this whole sucky business: my little headband with the blue bow was totally cute, and Mom looked like she really needed to wear a hat over the top of that school-marm hair.  HA!)

Verbier, Switzerland: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark and HRH Princess Isabella

After showing off her cutie pie kids in a photo call yesterday, Mary got a chance to enjoy the powder in action today.  Love the coordinated neutrals of the helmet, jacket, pants, and gloves -- looks very Danish, doesn't it?

And, even better news: Princess Isabella has apparently recovered from her illness, and felt well enough to join her mother for a romp in the snow!

Adorable!  And it looks like little Isabella packed all of her gray knit caps for her Swiss trip -- super cute and super warm, too! :)

Get ready, hatters ... it's a new princess for the blog!

Welcome to Mad Hattery, Princess Isabella!  This adorable little hatter is the daughter of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.  Her hattery choice today is quite sensible -- she's on a ski holiday with her parents and her big brother, Christian.  Nothing like a knit cap to keep little hatters' heads warm!

Reader Kirsten sent the photo in, and she also noted that some have suspected that little Isabella might be in the beginning stages of that most annoying of childhood diseases, chicken pox.  I agree, Kirsten -- showing up with scratchy spots really is the height of princessly hattery commitment.  I just hope her mom and dad get her an oatmeal bath and some comfy pajamas as soon as they get off that mountain!
