Danish Ruby Jubilee - Diplomatic Corps Dinner: HM The Queen of Denmark

It's the Emerald Parure Tiara, part of the Danish crown jewels, for Daisy at the dinner -- love the way the emerald stones work with the teal dress.

Danish Ruby Jubilee - Gala Banquet: HM The Queen of Denmark

Rounding out tonight's gala coverage with the woman of the hour in the Pearl Poiré Tiara, one of her favorites.  Really you can't go wrong with this one.

Also: have you all seen that Daisy is indeed getting a new jubilee tiara?  It's not rubies (sad!), but a new diadem made from a golden floral ornament given to her by the people of Greenland.  (You can see a photo here at RJWMB.)  Can't wait to see it!

Danish Ruby Jubilee - Service of Thanksgiving: HM The Queen of Denmark

It's a mini-Saturn hat for Daisy's big day -- and in royal purple, so no one will be confused about who the anniversary girl is.  On anyone else, I'd be saying some truly terrible things about this, I think, but since it's the Great Dane herself -- eh, it's really not that bad!

Danish Ruby Jubilee - Gala Performance: HM The Queen of Denmark

Love how the Baden Palmette Tiara sort of disappears into Daisy's 'do here.  Not my absolute favorite tiara of the Danish collection (I mean, let's face it, there are lots to choose from in Denmark!), but I like the way she's wearing it here a lot.

Danish Ruby Jubilee - City Hall Reception: HM The Queen of Denmark

Let's kick off our recap of the weekend's big Ruby Jubilee event with the anniversary girl herself, shall we?  I'm really liking the snow queen aspect of this chapeau -- Daisy needs to do monochrome in daywear more often.  (A little on the baldy side, though.)

Danish Ruby Jubilee - Reception at Parliament: HM The Queen of Denmark

Posted on January 10th, 2012 by Ella  |  5 Comments »

Get excited, Daisy fans: this is the first event in a series of planned celebrations honoring Queen Margrethe's Ruby Jubilee -- that's forty years on the Danish throne.  For the rest of this week and into the weekend, there will be exhibitions, receptions, and gala events.  Fingers crossed for some major hattery payoff for us!

As for this first hat -- I thought at first that Marg had brought out a brand-new topper to kick off the Jubilee fun, but I think it's actually a slightly reworked version of the hat (and dress) that she wore to Wax 'n Máx's wedding in 2002.  The feathers tone down the Star Trek a little, IMO.

Seriously, no queen does glam quite as well as Daisy.  Hot pink gown + Pearl Poiré Tiara = perfection!

Opening of Parliament 2011: HM The Queen of Denmark and HRH Princess Marie of Denmark

First things first: Daisy, I love ya, but I'm not gonna talk about this hat anymore.  MORATORIUM.

Let's focus on Princess Marie/Carmen Sandiego in the background instead.  Someone should check to make sure she didn't steal the Tivoli Gardens on the way home!!!

Stop the presses, hatters -- it looks like we've got a new (to the blog, at least) topper for Daisy!  It's a little '80s, and a little baldy, but the wider brim and the stripe embellishments get top marks from me.
