So, I'm pretty sure one of two things is going on with Lady Helen's hat (over on the left): either she wanted to memorialize a really good tropical drink she had recently, or she's trying to ease the headache brought on by said tropical drink. Either way: yikes.

Ah, one of the chic-est of the Windsor ladies -- Lady Helen looks great here! I think I'd ditch the white flowers, though -- this would be even more beautiful in monochrome.

I really like the hat that Lady Helen wore for this year's balcony appearance, and I almost love it, except for one thing: she appears to have raided my grandmother's collection of dried flowers and seashells from the Gulf coast of Florida to fancy this thing up! Too much frou, not enough chic.
ETA: The good people at Ralph Lauren e-mailed me to pass on the info that the dress and jacket Lady Helen is wearing here are from their line. The more you know!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Day Two Hattery winner! Lady Helen looks so elegant and regal in this wide-brimmed flat hat. I adore it! Helen, please don't be a stranger -- stop by and see us more often!

Let the hattery madness begin!
We'll start off the most sacred hattering week of the year with a look at Lady Helen Taylor's chapeau from the balcony apperance during this year's Trooping the Colour festivities. I still can't quite decide about this hat. I think I like it: it's slightly unusual, definitely different from what all of the other ladies were wearing, and chic -- it coordinates well with her low ponytail and her brown coat.
But it also seems a little ... fuddy-duddy. I don't know. Really, I'm so happy to see the miscellaneous minor royals that I'd almost be glad if they showed up with hats made of duct tape and Christmas lights, so perhaps I'm just being too easy on her...
(Also, I do believe there's perhaps another little hat-wearing Kent cousin hiding behind the little Chatto boys Lady Helen is herding -- come out, come out, minor royals, wherever you are!)
ETA: Not a Kent cousin -- Lady Sarah Chatto's hiding out back there behind Samuel and Arthur! A better picture tout de suite...
The Kents are out in force today! This is Lady Helen Taylor, the daughter of The Duke and Duchess of Kent, and her husband, Timothy. Welcome to Mad Hattery, Lady Helen!
She and her cousin Sarah Chatto apparently had a conversation about what to wear to the memorial unveiling, and decided to play, as my third-grade best friend would have put it, "matchmates" for the day. But hey, if you're going to show up in the same hat as another member of the royal fam, at least Lady Helen chose an excellent one. Classy, chic, perfect for the rare public appearance. Well done!

Here's another wedding guest in white: Kate Kent, who apparently commissioned Wedgwood to design this headband for her. I kind of dig it, though. And I really love Lady Helen's beret -- gorgeous!

Little Lady Helen certainly looked bummed out at her cousin's wedding, didn't she? Maybe it's because she didn't get to be in the bridal party like her cousins Sarah and Edward (though in hindsight, she should be thankful she didn't get stuck wearing this!)? Or maybe it's because she's, you know, nine years old at a big, long, fancy royal wedding?
Either way, I love her little plaid hat. I think it's safe to say that the hat's plaid matches that of the dress, which we can see in color here:

Perfect for a little future fashionista at a '70s Windsor soiree! Love it!
