Poor Tatiana knew she never should have let Nikolaos talk her into making a pit stop at the science museum to see the Van de Graaff generator before the christening...

We've officially got a new princess in our midst, hatters!

She started the day as a "Miss," and now she's a "Royal Highness" -- and every HRH needs a tiara, right? For her big day, Tatiana's new mother-in-law, Queen Anne-Marie, lent her the Antique Corsage Tiara. We've seen this tiara several times on the blog -- lately it's been worn by Princess Theodora, but it was also the tiara worn by Marie-Chantal on her wedding day. For a refresher on the history of this impressive piece of jewelry refashioning, head over here!
While glancing through photos though, I noticed that there was something strange about the tiara in some of the pictures -- it looks like there's fabric stuck behind it. Compare with this picture from earlier in the day (when she was still just plain Tatiana Blatnik):

Nothing behind the tiara there, right?
But then I realized: it's not fabric, it's rose petals that were showered on the newlyweds! A few must have gotten stuck behind the tiara. You can see them here:

Aww! (The veil looks great, too, BTW -- love how it coordinated with the little lace bolero she wore to cover her shoulders in the cathedral.) Congratulations, Nikolaos and Tatiana!

Going through royal wedding withdrawal, hatters? Fear not -- we've got a date and location for our next royal nuptials!
Several sources, including King Constantine, have confirmed that Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark, the second son of the deposed king and queen of Greece, will marry his fiancée, Tatiana Blatnik, on August 25, 2010, on the island of Spetses, near Porto Heli, Greece. Theirs will be the first royal wedding in Greece since Nikolaos's parents, King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, married in Athens in 1964. After the wedding, Tatiana will be known as HRH Princess Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark (though I'm sure she'll be called "Princess Tatiana" by the media).
Nikolaos's father may no longer be a reigning king, but the wedding is almost certain to draw significant royal guests. Nikolaos's aunts and uncles include Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark, Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleberg, Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos of Spain, and Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark. His first cousins include Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim of Denmark, Prince Gustav, Princess Alexandra, and Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleberg, and Prince Felipe, Infanta Elena, and Infanta Cristina of Spain. He is also related to the Swedish and British royal families.
I've reset the royal wedding countdown -- only 63 days until the big event! To get us geared up for the day, I'll be doing flashback posts from three of the most recent Greek royal family weddings: King Constantine and Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark's 1964 wedding in Athens, Crown Prince Pavlos and Marie-Chantal Miller's 1995 wedding in London, Princess Alexia and Carlos Morales Quintana's 1999 wedding, also in London. Look for the first two flashback posts in July, with the last to follow in early August!
