Prince Albert's Wedding: HIM Empress Farah Pahlavi

I tend to be very anti-turban in general, but I don't know -- I think this sort of works on Farah.  Maybe you have to be a former empress to pull one off?  Thoughts?

Crown Prince Pavlos's Wedding: HIM Empress Farah Pahlavi and HIH Crown Princess Yasmine Pahlavi

The Greeks and the Bulgarians weren't the only formerly reigning royals to attend Crown Prince Pavlos's wedding: the former royal family of Iran was also in attendance.

The woman in the navy blue hat in this photo is the former empress of Iran, Farah Pahlavi; the woman in pale green is her daughter-in-law, Yasmine Pahlavi, who is married to Farah's son (and Iran's former crown prince), Reza Pahlavi.  If the monarchy in Iran had not been overthrown during the Islamic revolution, today, Reza and Yasmine would be emperor and empress of Iran.

Today, their titles are only used in courtesy, and none of the former royal family claims them.  But, like many royal families who have lost their thrones, they have maintained friendships with other royal families, so you do see them pop up occasionally at big events like this one.

I think both women look lovely here, but I especially like Yasmine's hat -- the brim sits just low enough on the head that she gets to do that coy "looking out from under her eyelashes" gesture.  The bow adds interest, but because it's monochromatic, it doesn't overpower the hat.
