Time to start the royal (well, princely) wedding countdown again, hatters -- Princess Caroline's baby boy is getting hitched!  Andrea Casiraghi -- who, even without a title, is currently second in line to the Monegasque throne -- is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Tatiana Santo Domingo, and to celebrate, of course, they threw a big bash on a yacht.  (What, you don't have a yacht?  Psssh.  Plebians.)

And, even better?  The yacht party theme was apparently RAGAMUFFINS IN HATS.  Read on, hatters.  Trust me: you won't regret it.

There wasn't a whole lot of competition in the "best hat" category at this year's National Day in Monaco, but I think the little figure-skating princess from Hanover may have won me over on the day.  Simple, age-appropriate, and adorable.

As an aside: am I the only one who can't believe that Philip Treacy et al haven't been able to draw the ladies Monegasque princely family over to the dark side of ridiculous fascinators?  I mean, if anyone could unironically rock some of the sea-creature-esque creations coming out of the British hat industry, it's Stéphanie and Charlotte, right?  Time to tap into this goldmine of a market, milliners...

All four of Princess Caroline's children also attended their great-aunt's funeral.  Charlotte (who, incidentally, is named for Rainier and Antoinette's mother, Princess Charlotte -- Alexandra also has Charlotte as a middle name in honor of her) chose a beautiful lace veil similar to those worn by her mother and her aunt.  Alexandra's white lace veil is lovely and still age-appropriate; traditionally, mourning attire for children (like Alexandra) was white or gray rather than black.

Well, honestly, it's a little tough to get too excited about a couple of headbands next to Charlene's structural awesome-ness, but at least they've worn something on their heads!  (More than can be said for Charlotte or Stéphanie -- tsk, tsk, ladies!)

But wait ... did Uncle Karl make Alexandra a Chanel Hello Kitty purse?!?

Aww, look how much Princess Alexandra loves her big sis, Charlotte -- that's adorable!

Also adorable is Alex's mis-matched plaid headband and patterned shirt -- dare I say that we have a truly Mad Hatter in the making here???

Here's another appearance from one of our hatters-in-training: Princess Caroline's younger daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hanover!  Love her little headband -- perfectly age appropriate for a young princess. 

She's another one I can't wait to see at her uncle's big day next summer!  (Ooh, but scandalous question: will we see Alexandra's dad at the wedding, I wonder???)

Just like their Spanish counterparts, the royal women of Monaco were out on the piste in Switzerland today during the post-Christmas holiday.  Princess Caroline and her youngest child, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, looked ready to take on the mountain.

Alexandra especially seemed ready to head out on the slopes, with her sensible and safe red ski helmet.  Her mother's knitted hat may have been less suited for a run down the mountain, but looks warm and cozy for the skiing spectator.  I'm a sucker for knitted hats with snowflake motifs -- maybe it's my Scandinavian heritage talking?

The holiday season always brings the best surprises, and this one was no exception: it's a brand-new royal for our blog!

I love seeing hatters in training milling about, and this little Santa chapeau, spruced up with some stars, seems perfect for the young princess!  How holly jolly!
